How many "new scenario's" does he need.
He's already had the new owner scenario and the open wallet scenario since Pegula took over and he's failed both times. Now he gets the open wallet while rebuilding scenario?!?!
What's next, in 10 years when he'll get the open wallet while rebuilding while the planets align scenario? - sambarugh
He is highly regarded around the league and rightfully so. What I would like to see is the organization hire and develop an assistant gm to grab the reins when Darcy either steps down or is fired. David Poile, the GM of the Predators is also extremely highly regarded around the NHL as a great executive, in my opinion Darcy is the better GM, Poile has made the playoffs 7 out of 15 years, no Cup appearances while Darcy has made the playoffs 8 out of 16 years and a Cup appearance. The kicker, Poile has drafted in the top 10 six times, Darcy once. |

Not hating on Darcy, just a response to an earlier post. Someone referred to knowing how Darcy thinks based on 17 yrs of history. My point is that he may do the unexpected and out of the ordinary since he is under new ownership and they are now "rebuilding". He's really never been in such a position before. I am interested to see how he maneuvers his assets and tries to rebuild the team. - druryisclutch
As am I. I just think Bozak is a likely scenario. |

Time to give up garth, the sabers have nothing that the Avs well give up the 1st pick for! |

One big reason why the Sabres trade into the top 3 or top 5. When Vanek and Miller are dealt, they have no star power. No 1st line players. Name the last time the Sabres had that? Even with the "hardest working team" in the league they had Hasek. |

Vanek + 2nd in '14 for their 1st in '13 and neg. rights to Streit - sbroads24
this would be horrible, why devalue Vanek so much, he will get just as much if not more than pommer. |

One reason they don't: nobody is going to trade out of the top 5: no matter how many smokescreens Roy puts up. |

Just so you know Roy doesn't control all top 5 picks and he doesn't walk on water. |

My point is this: guys like Tallon, Roy, and whoever else can put up all the public fronts they want about how they're listening to offers for their picks. They're not going to trade them. It rarely ever happens to begin with, and the fact that this is the deepest draft in about a decade makes it even more unlikely. |

Or makes it more likely since, if it as deep as is said, then a top 5 can trade down with less dropoff in talent as usual and pick up strong additional assets. |

did Rolston coach/develop any players eligible in this years draft? wonder if Sabres will over-emphasize players from USNTDP |
|
|

Carolina has new ones as well.

Yeah, I saw those earlier. Both team's jerseys are a bit blah. Someone mentioned on another site that Carolina's is similar to Team Canada's and I can see that a bit. But, the maple leaf is what makes Canada's pretty cool in my opinion. |

I don't know. He's been out of the USNTDP for 2 years now, so if he did, it wasn't for very long. |

I think I like the new Carolina ones a bit better than the old ones. I hated the "warning flag" trim on the bottom. I think the new ones are more simplified and just more appealing to the eye. |

I wouldn't hate it, but DiPietro is a mess right now. I think it has more to do with how mentally fragile he is right now more than it is his physical capabilities, and I'd love to see him make a comeback, but his contract is for like a million more years. I guess Pegula could buy him out at some point and it wouldn't matter.

I cant imagine a scenario where BUF would not buyout RDP. I mean, we could use him as a backup for a year, and it would completely go along with the "suffering" line we were fed.
If he was serious about seeing through a rebuild and it not being about the money, this is definitely a trade to prove that. |

no he would get a lot more than a pending UFA and swapping a low round second for a mid round first, extended or not. |
