Sorry, my bad. I've been accused of "trolling" in here when people were expecting the moon for Pominville and Regehr.
I think that if you offer Vanek with a 70% salary retention, along with the 16th and possibly a supplemental 2nd rounder or mid-level prospect would get possibly the 4th overall and maybe a 3rd rounder.

- jmatchett383

The max salary/cap hit/signing bonus allowed to be retained is 50%.

it does get really old around here, for me it just passes a lot of time while at work and on the phones.
- hubie

Yes it does. But also don't need people to say I'm not intelligent because I didnt use a hyphen once or a speled a word wrong once. Thats as aggravating as work itself.

NSH trades down with EDM.
Gets Gagne+ 7th+ a 2nd
Trades Weber to Buff for the 8th for MCNabb Vanek and the 8th

Drafts Nurse 7th
Lindholm 8th
Adds Vanek, Gagne, McNabb + Nurse and Lindholm

Boom

- sbroads24

NSH can really reshape their team in a hurry that way...
They can even go further in they wanna do a quick rebuild
Send Fisher to someone for a 1st, and use that to make a deal w LA for Bernier?
Trade Rinne to Philly for #11 +

They peob do none of this and just take Barkov...
But it's def an interesting scenario u laid out

Eh, there are a few scouts/sites that think Nichuskin or even Barkov will be the best player
- sbroads24

I think Barkov will be
I'll be very excited to get Lindholm or Ristolainen at #8 though...
I like them both A LOT

completely agree, when I get paid for what I write ill check grammer and spelling (like I do with work in the real world).

Most of the time while I post im on the phone while thinking something else so my mind is anywhere but a spelling or a comma or hyphen

Not to be mean, but they'd be absolutely insane to do any of these deals (maybe the Edmonton one would fly).

Weber, again, I don't think there's a chance in hell he moves
Mike Fisher's worth more in Nashville than anywhere else because of Carrie Underwood, which is why they overpaid for him.
Also, they have a Vezina-worthy goalie locked up long term, don't think they'd trade him for a mid-1st round pick.

But hey, if they wanna trade Rinne to the Flyers for #11, I'm all for it.

I doubt Nurse will be ready for the NHL next year.

Lindholm has already stated he is staying in Sweden to honor the remainder of his contract - 1 more year.

They are definitely adding offense in Vanek and Gagner, but they are weakening their defense significantly. Thats a big change that would affect their system.

So, do you guys all think Vanek has a real possibility of getting traded? I know he's a UFA, he's still fairly young, and he definitely is a bona fide 1st line winger (for most teams). Do you think Sabres management is ready to move on from him?
- jmatchett383

If he doesnt wanna sign an extension?
Absolutely
They won't risk another Briere/Drury situation again where we lose a great talent for nothing

Yea. I put 30 seconds of thought into it. Just thinking of a way to get Weber with NSH getting a lot in return

I don't think there is a huge gap between Drouin and Barkov or Nikuchkin. After 5 I would agree the drop off is pretty big.
- Pierceme69

Not too sure about that
Lindholm is top3 in most drafts, he's putting up better than Backstrom #s in Sweden

After him I think there's a drop off, but not too drastic...
Guys like Monohan, Nurse, and even Hovart seem lime "Boom or Bust" kinda guys to me... But if they make it, their ceilings are pretty high IMO

Ive read one scout report on risto saying he is a offensive power play leader and scorer and another report saying he is the most bruising and physical dman in the draft..

Which is it? Is it both.

I want big Zadorov more than the other dmen.

The only team I could see potentially grabbing him is Carolina. They have the Staal's and could afford to wait a year on him. Calgary, Edmonton need players now.

We have to worry about Edmonton trading back on us though.

If I were Darcy, I'd try trading up with Edmonton to make sure we get Lindholm. Trade #8 + #55 for #7 + #58.

They move back a spot in the first, but move up 3 spots in the 2nd, not at risk of Buffalo taking a player they wanted anyway.

#11.... "+"
The plus would have to be significant
Not saying they'd do any of they...
But it's a fairly creative way to reshape their team in a hurry

Yea I would do that. EDM would have to be sure that we weren't taking who they want to draft
