That proposal's a joke and you know it...

I prefer to let the Islanders fans decide.

I think the Leafs could get Strome in a deal for RickD. but would need to send more back to the Isle...

Oh well when you put it that way......

It's still complete nonsense.

- Scabeh

not at all.

do you really think the isles can affor d to butout DP?

no, they cant.

with their young core showing the ability to compete now do they want to reallocate that money to something useful?

yup, i would think so.

so.. they want to get out from under the contract yet are unwilling to buy him out.. how do you do it?

by paying someone else to do it for you.

If the proposal was to send Komi over there, I'm thinking the Leafs would need to send less back to the Isle.

Great fit in my opinion. It strikes me that SJ is trying to overhaul their defense a bit (a shiny new offensive Dman would give resolution to how best to utilize Burns).

Would Leafs fans be willing to part with either Rielly or Gardiner to make Jumbo Joe happen?

I'm pretty sure Liles would fit into any deal quite nicely...

I love the idea. Hell, as far as I can tell, I'm the one who introduced the idea to Hockeybuzz.

But until something like this actually happens, I'm going to say it's nothing more than sweet happy drunk talk.

Which I'm really good at, by the way.

Thornton would look pretty good playing next to 50-goal scorer Phil Kessel.

Just sayin'...

Phaneuf for Thornton

Put Dion on Left Wing, move Marleau back to centre and there you go.

Phaneuf - Marleau - Burns

The most disappointing top line to ever exist.

Hell no.

Not in a million years.

For one year of a 34 year old guy?

Not a chance.

See my original post in this thread. Thornton would look awesome in a leafs uniform.

But the final offer is Jerry D'Amigo, or Jeffrey D'Amigo, or whatever his name is.

We aren't willing to go any higher than that.

Sorry.

She is pretty cool, got to talk to Hazel and councillor Mullen over the naturalization project near us, after all that was said and done and as Hazel was getting back in the car, she turned to me and Mullen and said, this street needs to be paved, come the summer, it was paved, lol.

Meanwhile in Toronto they move Thornton to defense allowing them to trade Franson for Hemsky and Omark

Hemsky-Grabovsky-Omark

The most disappointing second line to ever exist.

That's reasonable for a dominant #1 center

Right. So to try and compete now, you trade one of your good young players to spend that extra 4M on a UFA....

And the Leafs owner will be thrilled to be the one to buyout this awful contract I'm sure.

It won't happen and you know it.

Alrighty then.

But why bother even bringing up how awesome Thornton would look if you plan a lowball like that? Imo Thornton would get at least what Iginla got (1st and two D'amigo-level prospects)

Also, you gotta figure if you're acquiring 1 year of someone you're making pretty damn sure they'll re-sign with you first.
