"Random question, do you guys think that Hemsky is worth a second round draft pick this year?"
What he's worth and what the Lightning should pay are two very different things. - Michael_Stuart
Still, this person was not specific in which team he was talking about. It's like me going into a bruins blog and asking if Korobov should be brought up. Either way, I wouldn't give a lead cent for him. |

Not really, because Korobov's situation is isolated to the Lightning. Hemsky's worth is league wide. Regardless, I agree that we shouldn't be giving up a second round pick for him. |

to add to my defense wish list, i think a Malone for Shultz trade would be Marvelous |

I liked Schultz a lot last season, but once again I'm going to ask whether or not another bottom pairing guy is what this team needs. I'd rather see Barberio or someone else up there while putting a capable physical presence in the top four. Those guys are hard to come by, but I wouldn't be opposed to trading some forward quality for a good-to-great D-man. In an ideal world, maybe Jones falls. |

I would wet my pants if he fell to three, but it won't happen. Barberio is a possibility, but Korobov is much more defensively responsible then him, hits harder and can actually fight .
Salo Hedman
Carle Jones
Gudas Aulie
(Korobov for Salo's old man rest days ) |

That would be the idea situation, in my mind. Though, I love Nichushkin as well. I don't know what I want. Who knew that drafting third overall could be this challenging? - Michael_Stuart
You know what's crazy? We aren't (frank)ing picking a damn thing! |

Oh, right... HB... so busy with work I forgot about this. (No, Arty, you didn't scare me off )
Bowness seems like he could be a good fit. He seems to have a nice "puck-up" mentality with his D-men, which always made Vancouver a treat to watch. Yeah, okay, Van has been going downhill for a few seasons now, but that happens. Windows don't stay open for eternity.
His experience could be a real boon for Cooper.
As for all this pick-trading talk, I know I've gotten flak for it before, but I'll say it again- see if Yandle is available. There were some rumours that he is (that I honestly did not start... I'm not nearly that important, interesting or coherent) and I firmly believe his experience (albeit, at a young age) and skillset could make him a top D-man on this team for a long, long while. I'm just a bit afraid that Stevie is going to go for another "out of the blue" pick. Still not sold on Connolly.
As for Hedman up to this year- he's been good. Not great. Steady. Not spectacular. But he's young still, and probably our best D-man, overall, in a long while (maybe since Boyle).
That being said, I don't put him along the same line as guys like Weber, Suter, Doughty or even Pietrangelo, Yandle or Keith. He's a good player, with potential for "the next step", but he's just not a franchise D-man yet, despite the potential there.
Sure hope he pans out, or I'm going to look awfully foolish wearing his sweater! |

I agree with everything you've said here, except for the bolded bit. Connolly wasn't really an out of the blue pick. Lots said that he had the talent to go first overall. His injuries kept him out of that spot, and we were lucky enough to get him. He's a big body and he plays a big game. It takes longer for those guys to develop. Give him another season or two.
As for the Yandle though, I'd definitely be interested to see if he's available. The price would be very, very, very high though. |
