That's a fair deal. But if I'm the Rangers, I ask why I'd move the best goalie in the league and, if the answer is to get a world-class player like Malkin, I ask who my goalie is. I'm not up to date on the Rags' prospects, but as we've seen from this year's playoffs, you need a good, if not great, goalie to be successful. Also, I doubt the Rangers would willingly trade the best (or second best) goalie in the league to a division rival, even for a great player like Malkin.

All true. We don't have one in the system. I'm not a prospect guy but I know we don't

Trades are fun to throw out there tho

I guess the "add something else" didn't apply then?
- SuperHenderson13

What would the else be? Crosby? You're getting 2 great players (the world's best goalie being one of them) for a goalie who's lost his game and a defenseman you guys have been bashing all playoffs long. That's a pretty substantial "something else" to add.

agreed 100%.

I actually think getting out of Pittsburgh will do this team some good.

home ice doesn't mean anything in this series like it does in the West. both teams haven't shown that home ice is that vital to them.

penguins will come back. I expect this series to be 2-2 coming back.

- SuperHenderson13

That game 4 in Ottawa should be the blueprint for them. And I agree, they seemed to have played much better on the road so far

Well, value for value, it's pretty fair. But I just can't see the Rangers doing it

first off, MAF would be a great goalie on most teams right now. under the system he plays in, Patrick Roy would struggle.

Would we need to add? yes. would we need to add something huge? no.

Even my wife who is a Bruins fan couldn't watch it. She just didn't understand how the Penguins were so bad tonight.

The Bruins created it though. They got early momentum and just ran with it. All the way to Boston.

- Ben37

Yup. Holding the Pens to 1 goal over 2 games while scoring 9 of their own is total domination and Boston has done just that. They are just playing impressive hockey.

What makes you think he'd be great? The stellar shot he let in for the 4th goal tonight? The GWG he scored on himself Game 2 vs. NYI? The 6th goal from Game 4 vs. NYI (the blazing trickler)? The one he deflected into the goal, standing beside the goal looking at the corner in Game 4 vs. NYI?
And yes, I'm primarily a Flyers fan, and our goaltending is no treat. But I really think MAF is damaged good, mentally. At best, he'd be a good goalie on an adequate defensive team.

Edit: MAF is a good regular season goalie who had 2 good playoff runs. Since then, I always hear "It's not his fault, it's the team's." Every year. He gets a pass. He gets put up on this pedestal and almost never gets criticized, and I don't get why.

To be fair the idiot coach we had refused to play MacKinnon more than 6 minutes a game and only once had him and Drouin together.

Instead he kept going to Boone Jenner and Mark Scheifle.

Mackinnon is the real deal. I can see the Av's drafting MacKinnon and trading Stastny.

But I can also see them taking Jones and marketing the piss out of him as homegrown talent. They are both going to be really good.

well... I am not giving up on this team. I wont until boston wins 4. this team can and will come back. sometimes a good smacking is good for a team like this. down 2-0 is not as bad as people make it out to be. it sucks, but down 2-0 is something that can be overcome.

I love talking trades and talking offseason plans, so here it goes

1. Fire Dan Bylsma. This team WILL NOT win until this man is gone. he defensive system kills us. his stubborn attitude costs us games. I would look at Phoenix. see if you can get Dave Tippet to come. if not, look at Dallas Eakins from Toronto. Pittsburgh would be a coaching job sought by many coaches. Heck, maybe look at our assistant Tony Granato.

2. Trade the dead weight on this team. Guys like Engelland, Kennedy, etc. they are not needed. trade them to pick up draft picks at the draft.

3. Look to resign Iginla, Murray (cant recall if he is a UFA or is signed for another year), and Dupuis.

Let Cooke and Morrow walk.

4. Go look at the goalie market. Looking never hurts. I do believe that a guy like MAF would have value in the league. maybe ship him in a package to get Ryan Miller?

5. Look at these lines next season:

Dupuis-Crosby-Iginla
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Bennett
UFA signing (a big gritty 4th liner)-Vitale-Adams

6. Look at the trade market for Letang. Letang is a great dman. this is something no one will deny. Yet his value is very high right now and frankly the penguins will need to decide whether they can keep these cap hit guys forever. Fact is that you need key guys on rookie contracts. Malkin-2009. Toews-2010. Seguin-2011.

Letang would bring in A LOT. as in more than what we got for Staal. ship him out West. heck, maybe try to get that #1 pick and something else from COL.
(probably will get bashed for it, but I think it's' plausible.)

7. Improve the system and get our guys to commit. This system now is awful. trying to run and gun in the playoff is a roadmap for disaster. Get a coach with a good defensive plan that leads to offense. It will take commitment and guys like Malkin will need to learn to play 2 way hockey.

he is a guy that needs a defense in front of him. he gives up rebounds and often finds himself out of position. You need a defense that can clear out the front of the net, something the penguins have never been able to do.

MAF would work in every system. but he would work in a lot of systems.

Sabres have a great center corps, they want a winger. Maybe send stastny to the hawks for Kruger or Bolland plus some. Hawks could use a solid #2 center for a long time.
- drummer829

i wouldnt give up krueger for stasny, too much and too old to take on, krugs is part of hawks plans for the future and he will be taking bollands spot, i really dont see bolland being a hawk the start of next year, personally i would hope they move sharp to fill the #2 center role

Pretty big tourny for these guys. Especially when they are matched up against each other and one guy completely dominates and leads his team to victory and wins MVP.
