Horton, clowe, Clarkson, bickell, bozak, streit
Horton 5.5
Clarkson 5
clowe 4.5+
bozak 4
streit 4.5+
bickell 3.5+
I could see everyone of these contracts happening due to some desperate gm. and all will regret it later. (streit at that price wouldn't be too bad if short term) - hugefemale dog77
I dont think that MacT is desperate. Streit, Horton and then either Bickell or Clowe would be key players for the oilers this season. I'd pick Bickell, but seeing how he is playing in the playoffs so far I can't see Chicago not re-signing him. And as far as Clowe goes, good luck prying him from Sather's hands. |

no surprise, isnt this exactly what they did to Niemi, they'd probably rather keep their players i guess and just keep signing random goalies, it seems to work for em either way, thats a cold thing to do to Crawford though |

I'll say it again: I don't think there are any significant UFA's available. - Maxbone
It could get more interesting after some compliance buyouts, plus many teams will be looking to move some expensive players without asking for much in return. It's a good summer to have plenty of cap space and an owner that's willing to spend. |

The Isles have just become the ultimate wild card. RDP+ assets is the rumor now.

For sure, I'm guessing that they're first or maybe Nino could potentially be had. I don't think any owner would spend the money to buyout DP for a 2nd round pick or a B prospect. |

Raanta will be CC's backup next season. Emery priced himself out of Chicago after the season he had. Nothing weird about this at all. The timing is what it is because if the Hawks waited until after the playoffs Raanta might have already signed with somebody else.
If Crawford is really phazed by the team signing a goalie with zero games in the NHL who has proven absolutely nothing then he shouldn't be a starting goalie in this league.
The Detroit series brought the best out of this team and it's showing right now against LA.
Signing a backup for next year changes nothing. Stop trying to turn this into something it's not just because Raanta didn't choose the Oilers.

Very weird move by Chicago. Regardless I think the winner of the cup will be who ever comes out of the east. Also, I wouldn't mind signing Emery to back up Dubby next year. - Ihatebrianburke
Look at not so recent history.
Antti Niemi—very similar prospect at that time to what Rantaa is today— signed in the summer of 2008, when the Hawks had two goaltenders signed for multiple years and big money (Khabibulin and Huet).
After Crawford, you have a guy with an experimentally repaired hip, a guy who couldn't stick as #2 in Calgary, and an AHL journeyman named Hutton.
It's about an opportunity to improve the position. Period.

I got absolutely blasted for suggesting the Oilers should deal their 7th overall pick for Columbus's 14 + 19 picks, but if the first six in the draft taken are Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Nishushkin, Barkov, and Monahan, I'm absolutely making the deal with Columbus. I believe there's a significant drop off between those six and the rest of the field in the draft.
You only believe that because you've read it on 10,000 websites since the Mid Term Rankings came out. Please stop talking about draft eligibles in your blogs. There's already great places people can go to acquire credible info on prospects. You look like a clown bud.
And how do you not understand Raanta signing in Chicago? Corey Crawford is almost 30. This is a guy who split time with Ray Emery behind the best defense on the planet. He's having a nice playoff run, but he's not Henrik Lundqvist. Chicago had absolutely nothing in their pipeline in regards to goalies. This signing makes perfect sense.
Your saying it like he was suppose to start somewhere next year. He could end up in the AHL. Just because Viktor Fasth performed well this year doesn't mean every goalie that has a good season overseas is destined for NHL stardom.

John Jaeckel with a salient point----but apparently it will hurt Crawford's confidence.
Anyway, I wanted him so this kind of sucks - we need the goaltending depth. |
