Billy, what about Dustin Penner??? He's got the size, hands, and is moderately priced.
- Boyer83

I mentioned Penner earlier this season, when Hartnell got hurt. I got laughed at...

Maybe but I'm leaning towards no.

If Kimmo, Mez, and Bryz were all off the books by next offseason?

We could always try to try to sign Clarkson to a normal contract. If we signed him for Hartnell money, I'm sure we would still have the money to resign our youth, right?
- JAKEw1234

Maybe, if Hartnell is traded or otherwise off the salary cap.

I'll use Bill's example. In 2006, the Flyers organizational needs at defense were similar to what they are now. They took Giroux at number 22. The next 5 defensemen selected have played a combined 69 NHL games(Denis Persson, Ivan Vishneivskiy, Chris Summers, Matt Corrente & Carl Sneep).

The Flyers can't afford to make that kind of mistake picking at 11.

BoHo?

BoHo?
- GirouxForTheShow

Not saying BoHo will be a Giroux level player, but the kid was a huge money player in the OHL playoffs and Memorial Cup.

I wouldn't be amazed if he was off the board when 11 came around.

You are also extending Grioux, Coots, & B. Schenn.........Money goes right back into contracts.

Wouldn't be shocked if Dallas took Horvat.

If Pulock is still available, I would be a little disappointed with his overall skill set and his fit into this team needs that he isn't picked. But then again, with the Flyers superb forward development, and the draft depth, I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Calgary is a team that could really use a player like Sean Monahan too, tough call even for them at 6.

That's one team that should seriously consider a package for 2 of Buffalo's picks. If they could work it right then they could have the 8, 16, and 22. They'd be getting the most out of this supposedly extra deep draft.

EDIT: Plus Pittsburghs pick. So 8, 16, 22, AND 27th picks.

Wouldn't be surprised if we have a better idea of the Flyers future Cap situation at some point this Summer. I'm sure the Flyers are going to try and lock up Giroux.

As much as I like Pulock we don't know how they will have their board or if he'll even be the best on say TSN's rankings when they pick.

Best thing would be to just not fall for a single player, you'll just be pissed if they don't take that player.

Calgary already has 3 picks in round 1, they don't really need to force a pick or move back.

Yup, plenty of things need to play out for us to know what possible plans they have in store.

If anything, Calgary might look to use the later two picks to get another top 20 pick.

Calgary is in a full on rebuild, if they could work a package that only took 1 roster player and their pick, in order to move back only 2 spots plus add another 1st rounder, I think it'd be wise to do. It'd benefit their rebuild much more.

This I can see happening, but they may also elect to just use all 3 picks and add to their system which is well just as bad as any in the league.

I like the idea of trading for McBain. Homer and Rutherford have done deals in the past. A right handed d-man still pretty young, I think it is worth a shot. Maybe a McGinn and low round pick for McBain. He seemed pretty buried in Carolina last year.

The rumors in the Carolina press were that he and Mueller butted heads and really didn't get along. He's shown promise, but definitely has some work to do.

I can say from watching him play in the few hurricanes game I saw this season that we need to stay as far away from McBain as possible. He's unbelievably unintelligent, irresponsible, and just all around bad.
