If we add Jones then just move Malone and I would be satisfied with that.
Purcell Stamkos St. Louis
Killorn Lecavalier Connolly
Panik Johnson Palat
Crombeen Thompson ______ <----- fourth line winger (your vet)

Salo Hedman
Carle Jones
Gudas Brewer
Aulie

Bishop
Lindback

I like Connoly but I'm not sure he's 2nd line material just yet. Panik has been showing more and it would be difficult not to give Palat a shot given his recent success.

Nowhere have I ever said that we won't see young players on the roster; I just think that adding another veteran body might be prudent.

As for your trade proposals - we have enough middle six winger prospects. The goal with this pick should be to add an elite force. Keep the pick, or trade up. Trading down, in my opinion, isn't an option. We have enough depth.

What if Nichushkin falls in the draft? I mean from what I've read the Preds are sold on Barkov and Carolina might be trading out? I'm not so sure Calgary and Edmonton would take him either, they both need a centre badly. Maybe we trade down to 8/9 for a top defensemen and their pick?

Bottom line, If someone was willing to overpay four our pick I would listen especially if it meant staying in the top 10 and adding an all-star.

true, but our defense rospects coming up are fairly solid...especially some of the poop theyve shown ths year with the crunch, as well as hedman and gudas and salo and a strong system with cooper i think we will be alright, i still say draft jones if possible, if not take mackinnon/drouin/nich . keep the 3rd pick and think of the future here...we cant keep dreaming about a stanley cup next year and trying to add top older men to our team wh we can take young all stars with our 3rd pick. Although maybe a stanley cup isnt so far fetched with our prospects =p ( with help of the vets n stammer of course) ...and bishop and lindback

I agree, we can't but what I meant was a young NHLer like say Larsson or Myers. They are NHL ready and they are young enough that they can be solid add to our D for years. I'm not against drafting someone at 3rd overall but I'm kinda impatient and want someone who is a proven player instead of "could be" guy.

as strong as this year's upcoming draft class and as highly lauded as the top 5 have been so far, it would be difficult for the lightning to take someone that wasn't NHL ready with the #3 overall. The more I read about Nunchuck, the more I think he'd round out our forward lines the best. He could pretty much instantly play top 6 and make an impact. imagine a nichushkin-stamkos-MSL first line or he could drop to second with nichushkin-V4-Killorn/Purcell

I still have a hard time figuring that Jones will get past two. The age of that third line also concerns me. A third line, traditionally the line you send out to defend, has to be able to go up against Crosby and Malkin. As good as those three guys have been in the AHL, I don't know that throwing them to the wolves is a great development strategy. They'll need some help.

"IF" is the key word in that statement.

Lightning are talking to defensive and special teams coach, formerly of the Canucks Rick Bowness.
