It really doesn't seem to make sense to pull your kid from school with less than a month left in the school year, unless they want to make sure he gets a heads up for next year, I guess. - GilPerreault11
Vanek would be jumping the gun a bit if he purchased a house and pulled his kid from school before a trade actually happens.

There could be a trade in pinciple in place and it does take time to buy a house, might just be looking around. They could rent a place while they look, place their son in a school in the town/area they plan to live. But, who knows.

Too bad they traded away Forsberg at the deadline, he would be a nice piece coming back. I like Laich, wouldnt mind seeing him, a first and a prospect (not sure who they have in the pipeline)for Vanek or something along those lines.

Kuznetsov and Wilson are names that come to mind. If we plan on trading Miller (not to washington but just in general) I'd guess that maybe Holtby's name might have come up. A lot of possibilities here.
Normally, I wouldn't put much value in stuff like this but the source is just so obscure (kids in grade school) that there could be more to it.
Its funny. When I first saw earlier today that he had resigned. I knew a blog from Garth was coming. One that didnt say anything that everyone already knows. - poisondhearts37
I don't know about that... Garth moved up one of the 2nd round picks we got from Los Angeles from 2014 to this year. I'm not sure how he pulled it off, but I'm sure it must be true because he wrote it! We got the LA Kings 2nd round picks in 2014 and 2015... not this year. At least, that is according to every official league posting I've read via NHL.com and other sports websites (TSN, ESPN, CBC, etc.).

We have such a long history of doing this. When was the last time a player finished his career and or left Buffalo without being poop on or kicked to the curb?
Jochen Hecht.
Of all the guys over the years, Hasek, Turgeon, Barrasso, Peca, Briere, Drury, Campbell, Regehr, Biron, Afinogenov, Andreychuk. Even the Tim Kennedy situation-we'd rather pay you $333,333 than 1 Million because we think you're only for $650,000.
Jochen, respectable guy, respectable NHL player, but the fact that he is the chosen one, the only guy we treat decent and hang on to for a career(Tim Connolly was a close second) is the reason we have no cups and no one wants to play here.

I think the deal at the deadline was
Stafford & Miller + for Ovechkin +
Or maybe it was Vanek instead of Miller... In which case, we were getting Forsberg + in return?
The Caps calling for a MAJOR press conference to get Erat, or JUST stafford, seems unlikely...
I think they thought they had Miller or Vanek,
But the two sides couldn't agree on what the "+s" would be in time to get the deal done
Interesting that Wash & Us seem to keep coming up...
Maybe this type deal gets revisited at the draft?

Threw him out? Why didn't he play like he has been when he was in Buffalo? Maybe because he was paired with junk. Maybe Lindy's 'system' didn't let him flourish. Maybe he was too busy babysitting to 'hit everything that moved' maybe his old coach is better at utilizing his player assets than Ruff ever was.

Max? Really? That guy was not good. He did more harm than good.

Van is laughing his ass off while reading about this 'leak' through his childrens' school. This is all smokescreen. He may be moving but it's not to Wash.

Of all those guys, the only one that I'm mad about them being "kicked to the curb" was Hasek, and even he wanted out. Campbell wasn't worth the money he got. Drury's knee exploded shortly after he left, and Briere is benefitting from being on a deep team. Andreychuk would have been nice to keep around but once Hasek was gone, he would have done little good here. The rest were hockey trades. There's no use villainizing the team for doing something all teams do.
