Gaunce played on the wing after they traded for graovac. So why not put him on a wing with Kesler? Top 6 minutes. Could get some face offs in. Could make a few mistakes and Kesler could teach him to be a selke forward.

ya cause kesler is really helpful like that.

It's definitely nice to have the option to play him at wing, since not all Cs can make the switch, but he's more useful as a C.

The reason he was switched was more to accommodate Graovac—who from what I read was not as effective at wing—rather than because Gaunce was better at W than C.

He still lined up at C for lots of faceoffs, and by the end of the season/playoffs was taking some shifts at C on both the PK and a few at ES.

If the only spot available for him when he comes up is W, then so be it, but he's better served at C.

If they're looking to rush a prospect into a top6 W spot, Jensen is the better option. His offense is much better than Gaunce's at this point.

Plus, it woul be easier for him to improve his D in the NHL than it would for Gaunce to improve his offense there.

The OHL is an offensive league, that's where Gaunce should be next season.

There will be another draft ranking put out by the TSN panel a week prior to the actual draft. Based on the performance in the Memorial Cup I expect Domi to be a top 15 pick
- steve362

Oh, I 100% agree, but in the slim chance he slips to where the Leafs are picking, the Leafs WILL take him...Domi will never make it to 24th...

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but if they wanted Lu for Di straight up there's either old grudge bias or madness. Rick D is not playing, at all, period, and when he does he's horrible. His contract is a complete deadweight. Luongo possesses the same contract but actually plays, plays quite well in fact, and would improve that team. There's no way the 2 players have equal value, so something else would have to come back. It's logic.
- AlexF

Exactly...and well said. There is NO WAY it's a Lu for DiP straight up...Isles 100% would need to be adding to this deal.
Would Canucks do Lu for DiP and Nino?

It's amazing how fans KNOW exactly who their GM will pick IF a particular player is available.

That would be:

Canucks get Nino
Isles get Lu plus $24million dollars *in my best dr. evil*

I doubt that's enough...

You'd have to give more than the 24th overall pick for Brett Connolly. I mean he himself was a top 10 pick and he is developing as a top 10 pick should.

As for Chris Tanev.....I feel like you overvalue him. I mean he was a great find for undrafted player, but right now he's pretty much a #5 d-man. Could he become something more, sure, a #4. But that looks to me to be his ceiling.

His worth is probably a 2nd rounder, so you're probably adding to Blum to get the 24th overall pick.

@News1130Sports: I don't have confirmation but have been told to look into Wayne Gretzky getting interviewed by the #Canucks for their coaching vacancy.

Was going to ask this, do you guys think Eakins will be the nucks coach, or who are you guys hoping for?

That might get the conversation started. It comes down to whether there is interest in Luongo and his contract around the league. If you believe the Canucks could waive Luongo and someone else would pick him up (which I do) then the real question is whether the Canucks value Neiderreiter + 2nd (for the loss of their 1st) at 24m. I doubt it.
- AlexF

That's good bcs if you think you are getting Nino in a deal for lu then you guys are going to be disappointed at whatever return you get for him. That would be a grade A raping on Gillis's part, one which Snow will not bend over for. You guys really have to start being realistic. These trade proposals are hysterical

Eakins is the flavour of the month, in my opinion we need proven NHL experience. Has to be John Stevens

Well that's good the problem is snow forgot to take hos crazy pills this month so he won't be doing it. You're not getting a player who will prob be a top 6 power fwd for Luongo.

We all have opinions on trade proposals, and I've tossed a few of my own, but nothing, and I mean nothing will ever surprise me when it comes to who goes where and for what. The whole concept of being realistic, is, in a word, ridiculous. I mean to this day, this trade:
Nashville Predators traded Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell to the Philadelphia Flyers for a 1st round selection in 2007.......

makes me believe anything is possible.

As a leaf fan, I don't want to lose Eakins. But yeah, with your group, other candidates might make more sense.

It's a good thing you're not the GM, the Isles would have been sold and moved to Hamilton by now.

They traded the rights to each player because then Preds owner Craig Leipold wanted a firesale to cut his losses and sell the team. Under a sane owner, they would've kept one of them.

Which underlines the point, trades are no longer assets for assets, its a whole bunch of other garbage now.....another example: the Mike Ryder for Erik Cole trade......like wtf was that?

Yeah perhaps, which leads me to believe that Poile won't trade him yet until Housley can work some magic on the young D.

Agreed on point. bad example though. Both players had solid seasons last year and Cole had a rough start and post-trade, a rough finish.
