Either way, a #24 pick won't be helping this team for several years at the very least. The only way we'll be injecting immediate ELCs onto our active roster is by trading for a top 10 (more likely top 5) pick. - AlexF
Totally agree. Morin for exampleis probably 3 years away. A couple of the forwards could maybe step in for the following year. |

seriously? you wouldn't be happy with a 6' 200lb defenseman with a 101mph slapshot? I wouldn't be upset if the Isles drafted him at 15. - Isles_since_6
I think Pullock goes to the NYI at 15 unless Zadorov, Nurse or Ristolanian is still there. |

I don't think gaunce dropped at all. He is who I had van picking last year. - manvanfan
You might want to actually check the rankings before making a statement like this.
Gaunce was ranked 15-20 in most rankings. Even earlier in one or two, if I remember correctly.
EDIT: 11th overall for NA skaters on NHL.com |

Hoping Domi slides or they move up about 10 spots but it wont happen.
Hoping for Rychel, Horvat, Lazar, Morin, Morrisey, Pullok, petan, gauthier - allen_gamble
I'd love Zadorov, I feel he could be the next Nik Kronwall...

I know this. First ranking he was 7th I believe. I guess that we would get Jensen the year before too. I pick three players going into the draft that van will pick and I've been correct two years in a row. |

Who would of thought Calgary takes jankuowski at 21 last year? I could be incorrect on the spelling of his name and what number they picked him at. |

He was projected middle first round, probably late teens. |

I hate to say it but yeah look at Chara. I watched him in juniors almost every home game. His skating needed serious improvement but this kid was gonna be dam good. I figured he would go in the top ten but 56th overall???WTF. Anyway get em big teach them to skate. |

Those are both good guesses.
Can't remember where Jensen was ranked per draft.
I remember hoping Gaunce would fall to the Canucks before the draft, but didn't think he would fall that far—I remember seeing him in the mid teens on most rankings. |

he was stuck using a stick that was way too small for him early on too until they changed the rules. Milbury still pisses me off.

They've drafted big the last two drafts. I'd like to see them draft for skill with the first pick this year—that's what the system lacks. |

The ranking don't mean much out of the top 3. Filip forsberg went 11th ranked #1 European skater. Griffin Reinhart ranked 10 NA taken 4th. Grigrenko 12th ranked 3rd NA. So what's your point? |

I also remember the NHL draft broadcast where they said Gaunce was a good pick up for Vancouver. So hard to tell at the draft outside of the top couple blue chips. Development depends on how they're handled and how much motivation they have, and it's always a bit of a crap shoot. Plus people are tempted to write off prospects a year or two after their draft when very few are making an impact that soon.

Gillis was overly excited when he was able to draft Gaunce when he did. |

The worst part to me about vancouvers drafting is that I watch CHL games if they are on tv or I'm in a place that has a team and with the wheat kings in my hometown. There are players I see and I'm like poop are they drafted? Go home and find out they were taken 5 round or higher and they are top 20 in league scoring. |

This will sound strange to some. Well everything I say does but...
I would like to try and get Eric Wellwood from Philadelphia. If We can get him cheap. I think he would make a great cheap third liner. Career nhl stats 31 gp 11 pts +13
He hasn't really been given a chance by Philadelphia because of their forward depth. Kind of reminds me of Raymond but more physical. |

I remember watching Brendan Gallagher playing for the Giants for a few years and thinking the guy was awesome. He literally seemed to do everything and be everywhere, even dropped the gloves. How our scouts missed him when he was playing on our porch for several years baffles me.
Glad we picked McNally and Polasek ahead of him. |

Decent blog but it would probably be safe to assume their first pick will be a bust. Anyone remember 2010 where their first pick was in the 4th? Pat Mcnally ftw.
Speaking of Pats, Patrick White... Why. |
