Leafs will take Domi if he is available, will not slip down to 24... - BoBBeR56
There will be another draft ranking put out by the TSN panel a week prior to the actual draft. Based on the performance in the Memorial Cup I expect Domi to be a top 15 pick |

Erne, Hartman, de la rose.
No more drafting bpa because that usually turns into a player dropping that no one else wants for a reason. |

Outside of maybe Mantha, none of those guys should be available at 24. I think Lazar will be taken a few picks ahead, ditto with Ristolainen but I could see a scenario where those two guys might just slip to 24. Lazar was apparently impressive in the playoffs so that's why I think his stock is up. Mantha has a rep for being a lazy player who doesn't use his size enough which is why I could see him falling. Don't know much about the Finnish d-man but I did see him in the top 20 of most mocks.
I'm interested to see where Petan goes. - Nucker101
If gillis is doing what I think he is, there is a chance that we may get 1 of these guys with us trading players for a higher pick |

If the draft breaks down according to Button's list (which it won't), I hope we take Pulock or Lazar. |

this is some funny stuff
I all started with innocent tweets out of TSN's Bob McKenzie. Normally he NEVER tweets about the Islanders, but today, he just started a fire.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 27m
It's believed NYI would, under right circumstances, have interest in VAN G Roberto Luongo, tho 1st order of biz is to gauge cost on Nabokov.
1. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 13m
BTW, NYI are not "tolling" contract of G Tim Thomas. That means his NHL contract expires this summer and is UFA with no obligation to anyone
1. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 22m
No question in my mind Luongo is a good "hockey" fit for NYI but whether Isles or Canucks could ever finesse a workable deal is the issue.
Expand Collapse
2. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 23m
DiPietro's buyout is steep, $1.5M per year for next 16 years, not to be confused with Luongo's buyout #s: a shade over $1.5M x 18 years.
3. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 25m
Nabokov is UFA. As for circumstances on Luongo, almost goes without saying it would mean VAN taking Rick DiPietro for compliance buyout.
Whhhhaaaattt?
Which then earned some pretty funny tweets back:
1. Matt Clausen @mattclausen 8m
Though it would be hilarious if the two guys the compliance buyout clause was written for are traded for each other. #Isles #Nucks
1. Adam Proteau @Proteautype 9m
Of course, that trade would mean Mike Gillis taking some responsibility for his role in Luongo's contract. He can't insist on "equal value".
1. Dan Saraceni @cultureoflosing 6m
Tinfoil hat time: #Isles-Luongo chatter is a Snow-initiated smokescreen to force Anaheim into trading Jonas Hiller to Long Island.
But none so funny as the Tweet from Roberto himself:

seriously? you wouldn't be happy with a 6' 200lb defenseman with a 101mph slapshot? I wouldn't be upset if the Isles drafted him at 15.

Unfortunately he plays for the Brandon wheat kings and I get to see him play all season. He's not someone I would want. Even at 24th. |

Hoping Domi slides or they move up about 10 spots but it wont happen.
Hoping for Rychel, Horvat, Lazar, Morin, Morrisey, Pullok, petan, gauthier |

No thanks. |

Canucks have Lack and Cannata in the system. I wouldn't waste that pick on a goalie—maybe in the 3rd round or later they take a flyer on the best goalie available.
They need forward prospects more than anything. - Fosco
I think same thing. I would take a D only if someone good slides. Zadorov i take all day at that spot but I dont see it happening. |

Luongo and a 1st to the Islanders for Dipietro, Niederreiter and a 2nd - woopstash
That might get the conversation started. It comes down to whether there is interest in Luongo and his contract around the league. If you believe the Canucks could waive Luongo and someone else would pick him up (which I do) then the real question is whether the Canucks value Neiderreiter + 2nd (for the loss of their 1st) at 24m. I doubt it. |

It's funny cause I posted the same trade in the Isles thread and they all say no thanks. They want a Luongo for Dipietro deal straight up.
I do believe Luongo has value for sure. Especially for a team like the Isles. |

Either way, a #24 pick won't be helping this team for several years at the very least. The only way we'll be injecting immediate ELCs onto our active roster is by trading for a top 10 (more likely top 5) pick. |

At times it seems as if he wasn't interested in playing defence just wanted to deke and score. Lost the puck then out of position. He's all offence no defence. I'd draft him if he agreed to play forward. |

I don't think a Luongo trade should even be considered until the recapture issue is crystal clear. |

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but if they wanted Lu for Di straight up there's either old grudge bias or madness. Rick D is not playing, at all, period, and when he does he's horrible. His contract is a complete deadweight. Luongo possesses the same contract but actually plays, plays quite well in fact, and would improve that team. There's no way the 2 players have equal value, so something else would have to come back. It's logic. |
