Ahh Nonis.

Don't think it was his fault really. In every mock draft I took part in, I grabbed Repik. I had PK Subban in the third round. 2007 had some great skill at the top, but it was a crapshoot anything beyond the top 10.

Much better, this is your opinion

Yes. It also has some reality mixed in, something that's going to be smacking you guys in the faces real soon. Tick tock tick tock, about a month to go

There are several NHL'ers picked in the later rounds. The Oilers botched the pick.

If Gillis has been told "no buy outs" by ownership, he's completely and utterly screwed.
- Isles_since_6

I've been saying for months, since the CBA was announced, that I didn't think the Canucks would buy anyone out. I could see trades with the Canucks retaining salary happening. Something like:

Ballard to Phoenix for a 5th round pick, with the Canucks keeping $1m of salary.

In this situation a cap floor team gets a player that they can use and an actual dollar savings. The Canucks get to replace the $4.2m salary with a less expensive 5/6/7 player. So, they sign a $1m d-man, plus the $1m they are still paying but are saving $2.2 million. Maybe $1m isn't enough to move Ballard, but as long as they can create a net cap gain they can make it happen.

So you believe what you hear on Vancouver radio but disreguard what Bob Mac says. Do you read the whole bible or just the parts you like?

I'm pretty sure the team has until training camp ends to get below $64m, that is much more than a month.

Honestly, I think Ballard plays here next season. I think Edler or Bieksa get moved from the back end because they can get assets in return.

Honest question. Do you think they would go into next year with both goalies on the team? If so, do you think it will be a distraction. Was it a distraction this year?

To me, a botched pick is Dallas grabbing Scott Glennie or the Rangers grabbing Hugh Jessiman. If a guy gets picked in the 5th round and becomes a superstar, that doesn't devalue the picks taken in the first few rounds. What were the Oilers real options at 15? Esposito? Cherapanov? Gillies?

I can tell you no team had Max Pac in their top 20's. The habs actually had him after Angelo Esposito.

you're speculating what you figure Luongo is worth, which is hilarious because you can't get anything from a negative.

No, there is no chance they can go into the season with the same two goaltenders. So, no it won't be a distraction, but yes, it was a distraction this past year even though coaches/management/players all said it wasn't.

David Perron. He was 17th on Mackenzie's board. Plante wasn't even in the 1st round.

I don't think the team were distracted either. For the media, however, it was the gift that kept on giving.

again, where did Bob Mackenzie say you were getting anything other than DP for Luongo? All these young prospects you guys are adding in are coming from you.

Again where did Aqua man say they would not be buying out any players. Like I said, stick to the parts you like. It's all speculation.

Edit: and I have not mentioned any players names, I don't get involved in speculation. Someone called you a troll yesterday, I wont speculate on that.
