You should know better than to believe or repeat anything posted on here, especially from an Islander fan.

You gave up your 1st round pick, and your guy drafted at 15th overall plus Nillson. Spin it any way you want, that's what you dealt for 2 months of Ryan Smyth
- golfingsince

Yes, all garbage. Look for one Islander fan who didn't think we fleeced Edmonton. Two months of Smyth As opposed to 12 years of Luongo? Gotcha

who mentioned NOTHING about additional picks, or prospects coming from the Isles. Only that the Canucks would have to take back DP, and that it may be a non starter if the Isles resign Nabby. So keep blowing smoke.

2 solid picks in a group of 25....at that point it's not a matter of a team botching a pick, its a matter of a team or two teams getting lucky or doing a fantastic job. Perron fell because he was an overager.....and as for Pac......quite a few teams missed out on him. It was a poop draft, pure and simple.
- mykokes

You're kidding right? 10 out of the top 14 are solid NHL players.

You believe Bob Mckenzie over some random Islander fans on hockeybuzz?
- hankthetank

These are not some random Islander fans, they are all of them, and they're connected to the front office.

I think you're number is wrong, its actually Lu for Dipietro and Nino and 10M in savings.
- mykokes

I'm talking about the Net Present Value of the contract. A series of payments at some determined interest rate has a different value today than it does tomorrow. In order to pay $1.5m dollars every year for 15 years you would need to invest $30 million today at a modest rate of interest of 4.0%.

I wasn't trying to compare RD and RL, as Lu would actually be playing not being bought out.

OK. When the Luongo debacle ends definitely come on over. Do you think it's coincidence that EVERY poster on hockeybuzz besides just about any Canuck fan thinks your proposal are insane including Dreger and some of you guys are taking Strome into the deal? Coincidence or denial? Do you even realize that you guys make yourselves look like you have zero clue about anything?
- Cptmjl

I don't see any Canucks fans on here saying that Strome should be included. Where is that coming from?

You have been saying this for an hour now. Do I really need to go back and copy and paste all your comments for you again?

The entire discussion started because of a stupid tweet and was based on the Canucks taking on a NPV of almost $30 million dollars for Rick DiPietro's buy out. The money that NYI save, and that they get a player that can actually play for them, has a high cap hit (helping them to the floor) and as his contract expires actually turns to a cash benefit (low salary/high cap hit).

It's not Lu for Nino, its Lu and $30m for Nino.

If you don't like the deal, great, you have already said so, but saying that "Snow will never..." or "Canucks fans are stupid for..." is silly. None of us sit on the board of directors, or are privy to what an owner/GM is actually thinking or willing to do.

- 1970vintage

Only in response to people saying Snow would never trade youth for an established NHL player. I'm sure all you Isles fans are tight with Snow, seeing as how he probably greeted all 10 of you as you walked into the rink.

We're all clearly speculating on what else might be involved IF such a trade were to take place. You know, like, for fun. Unless you are getting paid for any of this rest easy little one.

ok, and where was Plante drafted? So Montreal got Max Pac and Pk Subban after 15......one team hit two homeruns. How did the rest do? It was a poop draft. I feel that saying Edmonton messed up its pick is like saying every team that didn't pick Datsyuk messed up their picks.

you're seriously still beating this horse? Snow moved two terrible prospects who fizzled out of the league in short order and a 1st round pick for a vet playoff rental. This happens with playoff bound teams how often? Oh yeah, every year? Does ANYONE miss Robert Nilsson? Did he EVER do anything worthy?

and this is the worst deal Snow's made? Sounds like he doesn't make many mistakes, no?

This is very true. Like I said earlier, nothing surprises me. I just offer my opinions on deals, rarely do I think its going to happen the way I think it should.

- mykokes

You have made great points

Personally, I doubt Lu to NYI happens, I think this contract costs Gillis his job in the end (unless, as rumoured, that ownership pushed for this and Gillis was against it)
