The argument that came was that Nino was a shoe-in for greateness because he was a high draft pick. Barker was a example that it's obviously not always the case.
- AlexF

Nobody said he was a shoe-in for anything. We just keep saying the Isles are not giving up one of their top prospects for Luongo. End of story.

OK guys, it's been real. What are you going to do when Gillis gets jack shat for Luongo and buys him out? Will you still have a logic overload?
- Cptmjl

We'll cry obviously because it obviously so much to our everyday lives. Then we'll still beat the Isles.

You do realize he doesn't like the Canucks right?
- golfingsince

so valuing assets should only be done by homers? If that were the case you guys would have been able to move Ballard, Booth and Luongo ages ago.

It's all fine and dandy what the fans want. See the countless posts on here about buying out everyone. Ownership does have a say in the matter however, and i'm pretty sure they want playoff revenue and no dead salary on the books.

I'm not and you should'nt be. I'll stop by again in a month and check in with you guys. What are you guys going to say when you get a second rd pick and a conditiional 4th in the following year if Luongo gets a team to the playoffs? Can't wait to copy and paste this whole thread.
- Cptmjl

That will be great. I'll also copy and paste the whole thing when the Isles trade DP and prospects to the Leafs for future considerations.

I've been calling for that. It works better when you take into account the recapture, but I wonder if the recapture will even be enforceable. Buying out Lu or RD are almost identical.

I'm just saying Dreger doesn't have much credibility when it comes to this team.

Please do. You have zero knowledge of Garth Snow or his style or the team for that matter. To any Islander fan this satement is hysterical but by all means continue

Someone posted on twitter that the Canucks would save 10 million if they swapped DP for Luongo and then bought out DP. I have no idea if that's true or not. Just what somebody posted. Relax nobody is offering up that trade

OK. When the Luongo debacle ends definitely come on over. Do you think it's coincidence that EVERY poster on hockeybuzz besides just about any Canuck fan thinks your proposal are insane including Dreger and some of you guys are taking Strome into the deal? Coincidence or denial? Do you even realize that you guys make yourselves look like you have zero clue about anything?

Didn't snow give up a ton of futures for a couple of months of Ryan Smyth? What about Zednik? Right, he'd certainly never trade for Lu.

Lol....don't laugh, I actually do know Snow. Friend of the family.....and I'm glad he has proved many hockey people wrong who all though his appointment as GM was a joke.

What happened to you NEED to reach the cap floor? That logic doesn't apply with Lu ?
- golfingsince

I love this tired argument where someone never takes the time to look at facts. We're at 35.9 mil right now with 15 players signed. That means we can add 8 more players to get the required floor, which is 44 mil this year. Nelson, Nino and Strome add roughly 8mil, we need to resign Bailey who is an RFA, that's another mil. We need to resign Hamonic, that's a mil or two extra. That gets us to the floor plus we still need to fill the remaining roster spots, kids are fine, we have enough. If we buy out DP, we'll still be fine because we can go after a UFA goaltender and offer him those dollars or a little less and still make the floor.

Please research something before opening your mouth and looking like an idiot.

Yeah they gave up so much that none of them are in the NHL anymore On a serious note he started the rebuild right after that and hasn't done anything like that since. So if you're ammo is trades from 6 or 7 years ago. Log off and take a nap

I disagree with you.

Also, wasn't it announced on local radio yesterday that the Canucks owner had told Gillis he didn't want to pay for ANY buyouts? Wow are they screwed if this is true.

I'm not the one that said the Isles needed DP to reach the cap floor. Maybe you should do a bit of reading before calling others idiots.

We gave up a prospect every single facking person on the planet knew was a waste of space in Smyth and Zednik was for a 2nd rd pick. not Nino and Strome or any combination of the two.
