Rather then trade for Luongo and in the process give up a blue chip prospect. Yes I believe they would

Again, we are below the floor. So far below the floor we are going to have trouble reaching it which we do every year. Stop

I honestly think those days are near the end. Once they move to BK I can't see them sucking on the bottom floor of the cap any longer

All GM's are stingy. The Canucks will be even more so than usual this offseason. Like the article said, Canucks ownership would want a lot more than a gamble on a european player who has shown nothing at the NHL level and a buy out in DP.
- hankthetank

They can want all they want, it's not happening. If that's what you think of Nino than IDK what to tell you. Kid is going to be good.

What makes you so sure? His 2 goals in 65 NHL games? Because he was a high draft pick? What exactly has he proven?

Agreed, but presently we are'nt worried about cap hits unless we are talking about reaching the floor. These Canucks fans don't get that.

I am? He is a kid and he has all the tools to be a legit power forward in this league. The Isles are in dire need of one and you better believe Snow is going to give him every chance to be that guy. If it doesn't work then it will be another story for another time. In the meantime that's the plan and if snow has shown anything its that he is sticking to his plan

Everybody knows he had no business being in the NHL at 18 yrs old. That's a lame argument. You're right though he hasn't proven anything yet but the Isles will give him every chance to prove himself. Just like every team just about does with their young prospects

Apparently neither do other guys who cover hockey. You know, professionals and what not who say that the Islanders would like to have Luongo. But what do they know?! I'll just take your word for it. You seem to be in the know.

He played 4 minutes a game on a line with Pandalfo and Reasoner. Reasoner who had one goal and Pandalfo who i thinkdid'nt score at all? He was called up and rushed stupidly to fill cap space to REACH the floor. He has excelled in the AHL being the top scorer on the team. He's a big kid who can skate, has good hands, and hits. I'm not concerned and believe me if Snow made that offer and Gillis did'nt take it he'd be a bigger moron than I thought intially.

"If the Canucks are going to take back Rick DiPietro for the purposes of buying out the very first profoundly dreadful contract of all these long-term messes, there had better be one helluva lot more coming back for Luongo than that Nino Niederreiter and a couple of second-round picks, if you are the Aquilinis. If it’s going to cost them that much money, you’ve got to do better than a guy who didn’t even look remotely close when he was in the league in 2011-12. (He was in the AHL for the 2012-13 season.) Granted, he was young and, yes, he did very well against good competition at the world championship this year. But if you’re plunking down that kind of cash, you want more than a gamble on another Euro forward, of which you have entirely too many. Surely there must be a better way to offload Luongo than that, if you look at it from just the ownership perspective. And after two years of one-and-done in the playoffs, that’s likely how they’ll look at it."

The G-Man knows what's up.

This. $24m for Neiderreiter. LOL.

It was his agent. Nino has already stated he can't wait for camp to start and be a part of this team. If he is traded which of course is a possibility it's not going to be for Luongo. I think it's a hysterical that some of you guys turned your noses up to the idea of Nino, DP, + for Luongo. You guys can't be serious. You won't get close to that from anyone let alone Snow who is as cheap a GM as there is.
- Cptmjl

You don't think getting rid of RD's salary would be a positive for the cheapest GM in the league?

I would imagine that Snow will be thinking big picture. You can discount Luongo's worth because of his contract all you want, but he still actually brings something to any team he is with, he'll play 60+ games, get 30+ wins and +/- 4 S/O with .900+ S% and +/- 2.5 GAA. I agree, in the short term Luongo doesn't make a ton of sense as he earns more than his cap hit, but in the longer term he is EXACTLY the type of player that Snow has targeted in the past few years.

I would be fine with keeping Lu and trading Schneider, but I think Gillis already burnt that bridge.

Mackenzie started this and followed with if Nino was traded with DP for Luongo then Snow would be fleeced. Apparently every Canuck fan missed this tidbit?

That's good bcs if you think you are getting Nino in a deal for lu then you guys are going to be disappointed at whatever return you get for him. That would be a grade A raping on Gillis's part, one which Snow will not bend over for. You guys really have to start being realistic. These trade proposals are hysterical
- Cptmjl

You Isles fans seem to think that Wang wants to pay Dipietro for the life of his contract to not play.

OK. You guys are not paying attention. DP's salary has zero effect on us. We NEED his contract to reach the floor. WTF do you think happened with Tim Thomas. I like Luongo, I really do. I think he's a great goaltender but you guys are not being realisitic. I csan't believe I'm still doing this?

Have a link to that? He didn't mention that on twitter and I didn't see him say that on TSN either? Where did he say Nino and DP for Luongo would be Snow getting fleeced?

Hey we can trade Cam Barker for him. Barker was a #4 pick after all.

There is no point arguing. You are taking Luongo and giving the Canucks whatever they want for him. We spent a year hearing about Kadri, Bozak, Gardiner, etc going to Vancouver.

This is what confuses me.

You NEED to have DP on the payroll. DP never plays and when he does he is terrible.

If you had Luongo, you would be paying almost the same amount except that Luongo is a terrific goalie.

So why would you rather keep paying DP when you could spend that money on Luongo?

That's what I thought. Thanks.
