actually he made like 6 big stops in the last 2 mins...
- Big_Lightnin

And let in four goals I'm not saying he didn't stop anything but 4 goals is a lot to give as a team and a goalie

He's good he's not a saviour either he has some really bad moments he was great in Boston series also let in four goals in under 10 mins too. His consistency may be an issue

Would love to bring Smith in on a 2-year deal if they can make sense of the cap situation and use the buyouts wisely.

In the end James still gets the nod to be no. 1, he'll just have to wait a little longer and battle through a little more adversity

Agreed but thinks also went south in a hurry never know what happened could have been as simple as seeing another car accident and everything comes back
- Yeti1181

ya that's what I was saying. Something could have triggered something and boom he's a headcase.

I was always shocked he was able to come back the way he did. Figured he did a ton of therapy. Though he did miss like a year with the broken jaw too right?

Clarkson might not be terrible money, and he's as big a Leaf fan as we are... might come for reasonable price. Happily give him what Bozak is asking for
- Big_Lightnin

Dont need to drop 5 million on a really good 3rd line center...sorry.

Did you ever read the book on his friend and the whole situation? If you get a chance you gain a new respect for Ilya kovalchuk?

well, 2 goals.

4-2 with 10 mins left....and still 4-2 with 1:50 left.

but whatever. All I'm saying is that goaltending is not a place we NEED to spend assets to improve right away... other more pressing needs.

Watching them struggle to win battles along the boards should be addressed.

2 tough wingers that can chip in with offence, can cycle the puck to keep sustained pressure in the O zone and get it out of their own zone, 1 good shutdown/defensive dman, 1 depth dman.

We all know the Leafs need a number one centre but that has to wait for now.

I'm a huge joe fan. I think San Jose is in for some fairly big re tooling lots of good young talent but maybe move some older guys and be right back where they are in a year or two may not lose much of a step at all depending what they get back

They've been waiting for 3 -4 years.
They now have the wingers to bury the puck.
The time is now to get a true number 1#.

I know, easier said than done.

No definitely not if your going to have to give significant assets but if something should happen to appear you have to look at the option

If Im not correct, he has played center.
And he is a really good 3rd/2nd liner.

Ridiculously good young player could have been one of the best. If you get a chance read it

Yes because there have been very few available and I disagree, the Leafs get hemmed in because they have guys like Grabovski out there with a minute left instead of winger that will fight along the boards to get it out, it is lacking, they also have very little sustained pressure because they can't keep the puck in the offensive zone for very long.

We definitely need to keep Kulemin after next year. He and Komarrov are gritty and tough to play against

Not saying the other needs dont need to be addressed, but the center has to be strongly looked into.

mcclement: 3rd line centre

gordon: 4th line centre

or vice versa

also.. gordon can play the wing just fine

- Dozzer

Why would the 2nd best face-off man in NHL play wing when McClement can barely go 50%...

yup.

said above. If Lou gets bought out, I'd be down with signing him to 5 years at reasonable discount money ($4M). Reimer can back him up, or trade Reimer for an asset and a backup.

Yes they should be looking for one but like you said previously, easier said then done, if the chance is there to get one, then they should act on it.
