Its not really the contract i am concerned about. Its about giving less to get a good talent. Which leaves us with good assets left, and reimer that we can dangle in a potential trade for a big upgrade upfront or on defense. All tactics my friend

I'd love to see Torts sign in Vancouver...the sound bites about the sedins and burrows would be awesome!

ya I don't see goaltending as an issue at all. Top pairing Dman and forward depth are more important.

Then get him to take $4M per for 5 years.
He won't sign ultra-cheap, but he's still an asset at that cap hit, and not terrible if he falls off in 2-3 years.

I've wanted Thornton on the Leafs ever since I used to watch him play when I lived in Boston in 2000.

And having just written that, it kinda makes me think that he's too old now.

If the Leafs want to bring in this Gordon character to fill a 3rd or 4th line need that's fine with me....

Clarkson in the top 6 is a must for me. As is getting rid of Grabovski and bringing back Bozak.

A hard case can be made that the team succeeded well without Grabovski, he had a brutal season and what is he really? A little guy that gets tossed around a lot and is streaky. Time for the new CEO and MLSE to put their money where their mouths are and buyout Grabovski.

Giving up nothing to be hindered with a contract for the next 10 years.....doesn't seem to tactical.

Forget Clarkson and Clowe....simply not worth what the asking price will be.
Plus Clowe isn't really that healthy.
Not sure why people want to overpay for another 3rd line center.

I like how the guy underperforms in a short season, while going through a KNOWN health issue, and still want to get rid of him.

He's better than Bozak. Peroid. If Bozak will sign for $3.5M, fine. But if you're paying 1 of them $5M (or $5.5M) I'd much rather it be Grabo than Bozak. Careers prior to this season make it not even debatable.

Clarkson might not be terrible money, and he's as big a Leaf fan as we are... might come for reasonable price. Happily give him what Bozak is asking for
