Maybe but if they fail to make the playoffs next year and resort back to a bottom 5 team, means last year was a fluke and so is Garth and Crappy

- kasperrko

Cappy is not a good coach, I'll agree with him possibly being gone if we don't make it but Snow isn't going anywhere. You haven't been paying attention if you think that's even a possibility.

Josh Bailey?? Signing guys like Pandolfo. Trading for Rolston and Tim Thomas. Should I continue????
- kasperrko

rewatch the 2nd half of the season!!! without josh bailey the team isnt in the playoffs.

pandolfo, rolston and tim thomas had NOTHING to do with trading down for picks... AND if youre really going to go down that road, pandolfo was a camp invite, rolston & tim thomas were both a cap space deal...

They have so much leash they keep tripping over it!!

Capuano is def on a shorter one but Snow is staying as long as he wants. We should all know Chuckie well enough by now.

Correct, it is NY and when you refer to the "anything can happen" mentality that to me is more Rangers like behaviour. Wang kept Milbury on as long as he did bcs he liked him on a personal level for the most part, forget about the abysml job the guy did. Snow is Wang's boy, he's going no where.

You think it's specualtion that the majority of Isles fans are located in Nassau and Suffolk?
- Cptmjl

i know that majority of season ticket holders are from nassau and suffolk...i just dont think there will be so many lost fans bc of a 17 mile drive...as of today, all i know of is 1 and as far as im concerned thats addition by subtraction to the fan base.

Most of my friends who are Islander fans said they cant wait for them to move to Brooklyn and they live on the East End and are going to re up their tickets. I don't think it is going to be a big deal. Also if the team is winning a lot more will show up for the games

PA Parenteu for nothing and coming soon Mark Streit for that same guy
- Cptmjl

agree with pa, disagree about streit...as i said at the deadline, the non-streit deal can only be evaluated once the season is over. i feel they had a successful season and therefore was an ok non-trade.

Got to admit though, snow is a genius. Look what he did in a half of season

Oh and lets not forget that memorable interview with Howie Rose when Howie asked about getting a power forward for Tavares. Snow thought Boyes was perfect for that role. Obviously Garth has not watch much hockey lately

- kasperrko

why are you so angry??? it was a SUCCESSFUL SEASON!!! everyone admits it. youre worried about brad boyes, the guy isnt even islanders property anymore...

take a step back and remember, this was a GOOD season!!!

Not angry at all. Just can not evaluate a team on half a season that is all. That is what everyone is doing. This team has broken my heart to many times to believe next year will be super successful. I pray it is but for now we don't have a goalie or a player to play with JT. Lets see what happens during the offseason

we were clearly talking about outrageous trade down deals (ie happening on draft day)

i didnt care for pandolfo/rolston by ANY stretch of the imagination. TT had zero impact on me. but you cant evaluate a deal based on no one knocking down doors.

no one was knocking down doors for grabner, moulson, hickey and yet garth took those guys and look what happened...

You're not just a little wrong here, you're A LOT wrong. This team, cable contract and all, is losing $16 million annually because of the worst lease in all of professional sports. It's the same general lease that nearly sent the Penguins into oblivion if it were not for the state stepping in to help finance the new arena. There's no way this new lease is anywhere close to being THAT bad.
- keaner17

OK, fair enough, perhaps I was a little sloppy in my language here.

But moving to a brand spanking new building does not guarantee financial success. That's the point I was trying to make.

The Penguins were handed a brand new arena.

The Islanders are merely tenants in a new one.

Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost for a round trip train ticket from the East End to Brooklyn and back to watch a game?

you cant hold the islanders responsible for there being a lockout!!

the team performed on level ground with the rest of the league...would it have continued had it been a full season? no one knows, no one will ever know!! but you realize you can pump them up just as easily as you chop them down.

they need improvements but if you cant see the light at the end of the tunnel, i suggest buying a shovel.

Well not to be technical here but Grabner is in Crappys doghouse for some reason, so he might possibly be out of here. Moulson everyone on here has been asking for his head. Hickey doing a decent job but has a little way to go. I am just saying Garth track record speaks for itself. We will see what the team does in a full season. So far Garth and company has failed miserably in an 82 game season

I don't think Snow believed that for a second despite that being the answer he gave. I think, reading between the lines, he was saying that Boyes was the guy for this season and he was content to keep things as they were. I also think the fact that Boyes has not yet been signed to an extension speaks volumes about how Snow really feels about Boyes role with the team.

This was the whole discussion we (everyone) had after that interview. It was a propaganda interview. Snow wasn't going to come out and say, "Yeah, I know Boyes sucks but we're on a shoestring budget and this is all we've got". He also wasn't going to say "We need to make a trade BAD".
Most GM's typically want to play coy and not look desperate, thus ensuring they don't get low-balled as much.
