I'm upset they're moving farther away but overall it's gonna be great for the team. They should attract free agents with the arena and playing with JT so overall I'm very excited
- NYI44

I live out east and it affects my commute big time but it's great for the team and that's all that matters

Yep... From a personal standpoint, I hate it. But there's no questioning the marketing prospects make it a huge positive for Wangs ability to finance a decent roster.

Is it really that big of a deal to commute to the games? From my work it takes me an hour and a half to get to a Pens game...I've never even given a second thought to the travel time. Just curious. It seems that most isles fans on here would agree, but definitely not Dee.

If they are moving in with the Nets then why not work on a deal with YES? Seems like a win for the Isles, no?

Because they have a very favorable long term contract with cablevision

But you have no problem watching Islander games on MSG ???
- Graves#9

Hopefully, when the Isles TV contract is up... SNY will give them a call. Thats where they should be broadcasted.

Edit...

YES would be fine too

Ok, someone please explain something to me. Charles wants to finance a new arena, rejected. Everything he proposes is rejected by Nassau. Now all of a sudden, a couple of weeks after Charles announces the move to Barclays, there is an announcement that Nassau is collecting bids for the hub (what a coincidence). Now there are 4 bids (2 of which are obviously being seriously considered) and it seems like one of them will be approved. One includes MSG of all people reconstructing the Coliseum to hold about 14,000 and bring in an AHL team (guess which one). Ratner wants to do the same but allow the Isles to play 6 games per year plus the AHL team. If it can hold an AHL team and the Isles can play 6 games/year, then why are they moving in the first place? If you can rebuild it for AHL teams or 6 NYI games, why is Nassau ok with this but content with them leaving. How are they not better off with an NHL team. I'm missing something. This is a joke!!!!!!

Random draft comment. no one really responded in the other thread. curious about your guys thoughts.... anyone else think the CBJ will move up to a very high draft position? They can dangle their 3 first rounders and even next years 1st. If I were in the 3 spot, id consider swapping out and getting 3 first rounders...

They have what it takes to move up. Interesting to see what they do. Such a deep draft that they might want to keep all 3

They make a ton of money off the MSG deal. So unless YES were to blow them out of the water it doesn't make any sense to switch.

They could do that and it would be a good move, my guess would be that they use the Kings/Rangers picks move up and have two draft picks in the top half of the draft.

Although keeping all 3 and adding a significant amount of talent/depth all in the first round would be a perfectly fine idea also.

The whole thing stinks. You cannot even say it was because of Wang because no other owner could get a new building even Pickett. The move to Brooklyn cannot happen fast enough. Move to Brooklyn and never look back.

theyre on the verge of being a consistent PO contender much like the isles. It appears that Gaborik tends to take every other year off, and is due next year to have another 40 goal season. I think they trade all 3 picks and move into a top 3 position. Add a dynamic player and they may instantly become a PO team.

Would you pay to renovate your house if you didn't own it? Anyway that's old news and I would love for him to sell the team

'That's right Isles fans, MSG's BRANDS and Dolan's teams will be brought to the 'heart of Long Island.' And a knife will be thrust into Isles fans' hearts everywhere.'

nah.. They'll be busy watching the Isles win in a county that cared

- keaner17

Well said keaner Something tells me Islander fans will be ok and the players will be more than ok playing in a real building and getting real media attention.

It will all be ok once they move. They will get a lot of attention, which is good for the team. Most importantly, if they're winning it doesn't matter where they are. It's a very nice building now they just have to focus on winning

Maybe Katie dear will approve one of these in a matter of days after the winning bid is chosen. Charles should sell to Ratner/Prokorov, have Ratner rebuild and move back after 2 years. The majority of fans are in Nassau/Suffolk. Who knows how they will draw at Barclays. They will always draw well here as long as the team is competitive, especially in a new building

Yeah I'm sure CBJ would love that, but no GM on earth is trading a top 3 pick for a bunch of later picks with guys like Jones, Drouin and MacKinnon are available for the taking.

I highly doubt the brand new Avalanche coach has any say as to whether they trade the pick or not. ('or not', being the only option).
