The quintessential retired number in every arena guy. The no 99s rule speaks for itself unlike the no 42s rule in baseball. - HopintheCordoba
I was more or less referring to the 4 different teams he played for.
Perhaps Paul Coffey would have been a better example. |

No doubt, Gaborik will prove to be a better player than Nash, if not for his injuries it would be glaring. |

I always loved watching Gaborik play. I think he and Nash are fairly similar in terms of how many points they could rack up in a healthy season (which is why i thought it would be so dangerous to have them on the same team)....
As a fantasy hockey owner it was some frustrating having Gaborik on a keeper team.... Hurt.... Hat Trick..... Hurt...... Hat Trick..... |

I see Gaborik to be great when he has to do things himself or with less than talented folk around him, whereas I think Nash needs someone. But points wise, yes they are close |

if NY Rangers buy out Richards, anyone interested?
guys that get bought out are guys to go after. they will be asking for much less considering how they are already making a ton.
Richards would be interesting to at least think about. |

ESPN.com's Neil Greenberg also made the case for the Pittsburgh Penguins to buy out the remaining two years of goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury's contract.
Since backstopping the Penguins to the 2009 Stanley Cup title, Fleury's performance has declined to where Greenberg believes he's no longer worth the annual cap hit of $5 million.
Greenberg noted the Penguins need to free up cap space to re-sign Brenden Morrow and Jarome Iginla, as well as make it a little easier to re-sign Evgeni Malkin next year. He feels the Penguins can make do with Tomas Vokoun, who has taken over the starter's role in this year's playoffs.
While a Fleury buyout makes sense on paper, it wouldn't resolve the Penguins goaltending for the long term. Vokoun turns 37 this summer, meaning GM Ray Shero would have to add someone to eventually take over the starter's role.
Jonathan Bernier of the LA Kings and Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues are viable options, but it remains to be seen if Shero goes that route. He could be patient with Fleury and shed salary elsewhere if necessary. Ownership may also be reluctant to pay a player who is no longer on the roster, even if it doesn't count against their cap.

Yes please but take care of the current roster guys first. He wouldn't have to be an elite player here and he could step up into a more prevalent role if injuries occur. |

Fleury still had a good regular season he will return to his old playoff form I believe and jimmy Howard signed a contract this year north or $5 mil per and I think he and fleury are on very similar levels as a goalie. If the penguins were to get rid of fleury it would definitely be via trade he's still a very good goalie and somebody would be happy to take him from the penguins. |

The Penguins aren't resigning Morrow, and probably won't resign Iginla.
Also, (frank) Brian Elliot. He's not better than Fleury. |

Totally agree, however if Iginla wants a one year deal for 3 million next season I see no reason why it couldn't be done, 2014-15 is the doomsday cap year for Shero, lots of flux coming for the roster that year. |

As far as UFA's go... Got to get Duper first. If there's enough for Iggy that's cool, but no doubt in my mind they need to keep Dupuis.
MAF will be back. |

Maatta debuting tonight. Not sure if Harrington suited up. I hope so though.
@nafsnep: Maatta a shot from the crease. Save Desjardins. No flies on this kid. Looks good in his debut. |

Random thought from tonight's game...
Hawks PK looks like it can be taken advantage of. Not aggressive at all. |

hawks are a very beatable team IMO. them and LA (if CHI wins) will be a great matchup.
I give CHI the edge with home ice. |

What a terrible call. Let the players finish the game. Who cares if they are roughing each other at the blueline away from the play. |
