that is actually d sedins prob.... since he is the one that called that boarding penalty against him and let marchand speed bag him and i believe a couple more anomalies as far as sedin and penalties are concerned. someone posted a few reasons a little while back. |

I wonder if Henrik would consider giving up the C, at least internally given that there will be a whole new coaching staff and possibly some roster changes as well. If by the end of training camp the group chooses Henrik again, no one (fans & media) need to be any wiser, but the team will have chosen the captain. |

It was just a thought. If I was the captain of a team and a whole new coaching staff were being brought in and I thought I might not be the coaches guy, I would go to him straight away and offer to give it up for the "good of the team" if that's what was needed. |

You know....here's a guy (Henrik) who's the franchise leading scorer, is an absolute pillar in the community, he's good with the media, he lead the team to within 60 minutes of a Stanley Cup (same as Linden), he's third all time in game winning goals (believe it or not), he's number two in games played regular season & playoffs, he's the franchise leader in +/-, he's second all time in playoff points, what does he need to do to get some respect from the fans???
We/they have a track record of treating our star players like poop, and the beat goes on...I don't get it. Is he a dominant playoff player, no, is he a dominant regular season guy, no, but he's a quiet leader who goes about his business and gets the job done. If we had more guys who consistently performed we should be so lucky.
I'm not a huge Sedin guy, but give credit where it's due. They're not the problem with the team, the other bottom nine guys are. I'll stand by that until proven otherwise!!!
Much respect for you Vintage, always enjoy and respect the views of guys like yourself, Vantel, DCT, Fosco, Alex, Darius, Scooby, KB3, chompsey, bloated, Nucker, etc etc...BUT we need to lay off the Hank and Dany need to go or step down thing. |

I agree with everything you said but also think everything has a shelf life. I think they should be allowed to retire here in 3 years. |

Henrik has my respect as a hockey player and a person, I just believe in an official leadership structure that projects a different (more assertive) attitude than what the Naslund/Luongo/Henrik captaincies have projected. I also believe that the new staff should be responsible for deciding which leadership structure best represents their philosophy as opposed to forcing AV's philosophy of fronting the team with passive "yes men" on the new regime whether they like it or not.

Haha, Bieksa didnt make Ians keeper list. Awesome blog!
The worst player in the entire Canucks/SJ series for both teams and all he could do was point fingers everywhere but his own frigging game. Used his injuries last two playoffs now for his poor play even tho he had no post hockey treatment. AV whacked Kesler last season saying his injuries were a non factor even tho he ended up with double surgery yet he said nothing about Bieksa's excuse with no treatment. I wish AV took his bum buddy Bieksa with him.... |

I don't think they're there just yet, they have more to give. It's just too bad they don't have better top six guys to compliment them. |

That would be nice from a fans perspective, but you have no idea what's said in the room. I would think the players have the utmost respect for Henrik. Would I like another Linden as our captain, absolutely!!! But not at the expense of disrespecting our current captain. |

Nah it'll be an Edler/Luongo package and all Gillis will get is a first rounder and probably some salary back in the form of a third liner..... - chompsey
Why waste Edler's trade value trying to unload Luongo, you still have the Recature hanging over your head. Buy out Lu, if you trade him for someone that you are going to buy out the Recapture is still hanging over your head, whether it gets used or not. If you trade for DiPietro the difference is $3mil over the length (Lu 1.5 for 18yrs DiPietro 1.5 for 16 yrs)and the Recapture is still there. I want to trade Edler for his full value, hell I want more than his full value. |

It is too bad they always get classified as one player. Hank has a longer shelf life than Dan , but they come as a package.
