Gary Mason just said on TEAM1040 that Ballard and Booth won't be bought out. Gillis believes it was coaching that led to their poor play. Hmm... I tend to agree, but I'm still not sure about this decision. |

I'll make it short
Offence - Daniel, Henrik, Kassian, Jensen, Hansen, Gaunce, Higgins, Weise, and Kesler or Burrows ( I'd trade them if the offer was right ).
Defence - Hamhuis, Garrison, Tanev, Corrado, and Bieksa.
Goalie - Luongo. Schnieder will get us a bigger return and Lack shoul be able to hold it Down in a few years. - Juggie_Hundal
Luongo is done in Vancouver one way or another. The damage is done. |

For cap reasons one of them has to go. |

Mine would be:
C: Burrows
A: Kesler
A: Garrison
A: Higgins - DariusKnight
I really hope Henrik isn't the captain again next season. I like Burrows as captain but I'm not sure it would work given his reputation and that captains work with the officials as much as they do. |

The best thing for the franchise is to trade Schneider and keep Lu, but that probably won't happen. I know you think Lu wants out, but he's stated that it is possible that he'd stay here under the right circumstances. - LeftCoaster
I agree but going by what Gillis said when asked will Lu be a Canuck at the start of next year ,he replied "I doubt it" and asked why he didn't fire Rollie he said "Him and Corey work well together" |

Disappointing how AV and Gillis let the situation play out...(frank)in idiots!! |

Two years left why buy them out? We don't have a top 6 forward to replace Booth and if Ballard can be traded or play in bottom 5/6 spot if Edler is moved why not? |

The Sedins have earned the right to retire Canucks if they wish. I would only extend them another two years at 4.6 Mil per same as the rest of the core. They don't need the money and would take a home town discount.
I would start surrounding them with talent and create a second scoring line like the Hawks have.
Gaunce Kassian Tanev Schneider Garisson and Corrado will be the beginning of our future.
Everyone else is expendable.
With some buyouts that happen throughout the league guys like Richards Vinny Heatly and others will be available for cheap money. Instead of UFA teams will go hunting for bargains top end players for 2 year contracts. That should also reduce the cost of UFAs . This is a good year to have cap space . - VANTEL
Hopefully the Canucks can put together some pieces and start working towards having a new top line. Sedins probably have one more top line year in them and then they should ideally slide down to 2nd scoring line.

I bet ownership said no buy outs. He made his bed. The team he picked will make or break him. Short short leash. |

I think he knew all along but he let the coach coach. He gave AV every opportunity to succeed and in the end it was AV's downfall. |

Unofficial Poll:
Should Henrik automatically retain the "C" under the new staff?
I vote "NO" (but that doesn't mean he can't earn it once they get here). - DrChristianTroy
a definite "NO" |

Nah it'll be an Edler/Luongo package and all Gillis will get is a first rounder and probably some salary back in the form of a third liner..... |

Agreed. If you ask me which one I'd keep, it would be Schneider without question. But as you say Gillis should be looking to trading Schneider or at the very least seeing what the market is for him. Unfortunately I'm not sure the market for goalies is that strong this summer. |

Hahaha, true dat but we still need to shed salary. That's a fact that won't just disappear. |

No one has signed off on the new CBA, so it can't be enforced. - A_SteamingLombardi
Pretty good chance it will be by the time Luongo retires. |

What would peoples thoughts on trading Edler plus for the Lightnings 3rd overall?
Maybe something like
Edler plus our first (23rd or 24th) and Raymond rights
for
3rd overall and 33rd overall. |

I'd do it but I doubt the Lightning would, especially if Jones is still available at #3. |

But Edler gives them more now with some of the vets they have and will help them down the road plus they can get a very good defensive prospect with our first as well. We need either Drouin or Nichushkin |

I think the starting bid would need to be Kesler |
