Lets say that Brendan Morrow puts a really heavy hit on Krug and injures him. Who fills that hole?
I have a feeling that Murray and Lucic will meet more than once in front of the net. - Ben37

It does sound like Ference and Redden are close to being game ready (if Redden isn't already). So thankfully they should have Ference/Redden/Hamilton at their disposal should it get to that. If not like I said, get ready for a big old dose of Garnet Exelby |

Every series is the same: people come here and talk how good their teams are. I'm sure you won't find any Pens fan say something like this in other threads (besides that "71 & 87 something" guy) |

...AND we woke up, right? We slept for too long after that first game against you guys.
I bet we'll take the Boston Bruins a lot more serious. No margin for bad or lazy play here. |

I postulated that the best chance the Sens had to beat the Pens ws to turn the series into a street fight and try to get the Pens drawn into after the whistle stuff and less focused on hockey. The Sens didn't do that and they got smoked.THe Bruins are better equipped than anyone to try it. Just have to see what happens. |

I'm sure Marchand will be trying his best to get under the skin of quiet a few Pens players. If I were him I would try to really irritate Neal, he has shown he can be rattled in the past. |

I'd be happy to see Hamilton and the other rookies over Seidenburg and guys who have won a cup or been in the NHL for a few years.
The Penguins are not the Rangers. |

Just like when we said "we are not Montreal"...
Nice article about the Pens btw. I think we could use some of Vitale's speed in this series. He'd be good to keep up with their bottom 6 forwards. |

It appears that Friday or Saturday will be the start of the series. All dependent on if Detroit closes out Chicago tonight. I understand they want to get the 2nd round over before scheduling but this is getting ridiculous. Wednesday or Thursday would've been the latest I though we would have to wait. I'm sure the players don't mind a bit of rest though. |

The best was when Sensarmy-11 came in all pumped up after the game 3 gift and said how the Sens can play right with the Penguins.....Then they go out and get stomped on in games 4 and 5.
I'm just getting ready for all the Cindy / Diving / Bad Goalie /Dirty Cooke /Bettman luves the Pens / whinning / U get all the calls / classless / bandwagon BS from the Bruin faithful.
Same poop over and over, repeat without thinking. |

How so? The B's defense is noticeably better since Bartkowski and Krug were entered into the lineup in place of Redden and Ferrence. Plus the B's just got Seidenberg back. The 2 rookie D are great at moving the puck or skating the puck out of the zone and up the ice, something that the B's lacked for years. Douglas Murray, while a decent D, can barely skate....and has no chance of keeping up with Lucic anywhere on the ice.
Its going to be a GREAT series!
WAR BRUINS! - Seabass2012
No offense, but lets be serious. Some kid at St. Cloud State could have stepped in and helped the Bruins defense hold the Rags from scoring. Please don't refer Bartkowski and Krug as great defenders based on one series against a team that can't score. They were impressive, but lets be serious for a second. Big difference playing the Rags and then the Pens. That is like playing Belarus in hockey then going to play Canada.
While slow, I'd trust Doug Murray in this series more than two raw and green Dmen who haven't seen anything yet as far as talent they will go against this series. |

Crosby was cleared to play without the face gaurd and practiced without it. He said he could breath and see the ice better without it but it would take a few days for him to stick his head in front of the net without the gaurd. |

Its kind of funny that you guys are calling out that "The Pens arent the Rangers".
You guys have played Ottawa and the Islanders...... The Bruins aren't....
I can't wait. If Chicago loses, one of our teams will have home ice in the Stanley Cup. |

One of Boston's best assets is their great forward depth. The Paille line has had very good success so far in these playoffs and has posed matchup problems for the opposition.
The Bruins will not have that advantage in this series due to the Penguins depth being equally up to the task.
I think the depth is equal for both teams but when all things are equal I will take the team with the more dynamic offensive difference makers. Crosby and Malkin will be the difference whether it is them providing the offense, or by taking up so much time and energy from Bruins players to leave teammates to do the damage. |

I'm not sure I agree with Mark Madden here...
@MarkMaddenX: Ference's return would be welcome. But mostly, Bruins would be better off w/younger D vs Penguins.
I'm not trying to offend the kids but there's a difference between playing scared and playing with experience. Andrew Ference deserves a bit of credit if you ask me versus 2 kids that have a bright future but haven't done a thing in the league.

We acknowledge Boston has a good team..we also don't go over the Bruins board to say we are better at this or that. We know the team we have and what we are capable of(good or bad). You cannot come here and say that Ottawa and NY Islanders would lose for sure to this bad Rangers team or the Maple Leafs. Let's just let the games play out. I truly believe we can beat Boston on our first two home games |

I'm sure guys like Marchand and Lucic will try to get under the Pens skins and goad them into taking dumb penalties. Hopefully players like Malkin and Neal don't fall for it and play smart. Don't let the Bruins do what the Flyers did last year. The B's have four lines that can put the puck in the net just like the Pens. Should be a terrific intense series. Love to see Iggy and Morrow have a great series.
I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend. |

Cordoba, I think Ference is a pretty good d-man. I really liked him when he played for the Pens. I don't know if age hasn't been good to his game.. |

The thing is that the young unproven Bruins defensemen worked out well against the Rangers because the Ranger can't score. Expecting the same problem from the Penguins is foolish.
We know what the Pen's are up against the Bruins and I for haven't compared them to the Islanders or Senators. Different teams in different series. |
