I love Myers, him plus the 8th overall for the #1 by itself if worth it and would be done most likely, throw in the 2nd and the Avs would take it without a doubt.

The dude just also threw in Sekera which is a good player but wont win you a cup.(I like to look at best players for their position, I.E. campbell for the bruins is an AMAZING 4th line center so I would rather have him than Ganger from the oilers because for his role he is a better players even though Ganger>campbell.)

At this point I am just messing around but to take out a mid/high second which is worth significant value as well as Sekera which was claimed as the sabers best Dman for Armia was just reallocating an already one sided deal. What would you have said if I said Ennis instead of armia, Foligno? What if the avs threw in a 3rd. Either was its all fun and games. Avs and Buffalo would make good trading partners however, just who and what are yet to be said

However, I personally don't see Darcy trading up for this draft.
He will stay put at 8th and 16th overall.
Even at those positions, Sabres will end up with great prospects!
Future will be bright for the Sabres, as we will have a great pool of talented prospects ready in 2-3 years!

I know, it's just an idea. I personally see us trading with Carolina if we're going to trade at all. One of MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov, or Nichuskin will be available at 5. Carolina is in great need of defense, and the 8th pick is an area where they will get just that. The Sabres need high-end offensive talent, and the 5th pick would get us that. Something like #8 and a couple of decent prospects would probably get us #5.

If Darcy settles for some bums like Darnell Nurse (8) and Wennberg (16) I will be beyond pissed. This is not the draft to stay put and collect decent to mediocre talent when we're in desperate need of a rebuild.

I personally wouldn't mind Stastny, but I highly doubt Darcy would want him in our rebuilding state. He's already 27 and by the time the rebuild is around over, he'll be on the decline in his career.

True but if you keep vanek and your prospects like Armia and grigs make an impact sooner than later your could have a Sens 2 years style rebuild. Especially if you take Nurse with your 8th and you say Stastny and a 3rd and 4th for Myers you will have a jam packed farm system and Myers replacement.

We are rebuilding patiently and setting up a very solid core with players like duchene, landeskog, varly, our pick this year, EJ and RoR. We are slowly setting up a solid team with focus on bottom 6 as well with players like Downie and Mcginn.

We really need to set up are D but we are focused on doing it the right way.

I don't think its that bad. I don't believe you have to suck royal wang and scoop up all these top picks to be competitive for the cup. Yes its been proven that formula can work, but we aren't the chosen ones this time around. They just need to make more solid choices all the way around.

I know you don't need to tank and garner picks, but if you do, you can have some great long-term success with plenty of very good and very young players (see PIT, CHI). I have a feeling that if Darcy "re-tools" like he wants to through things like free agency, picking up good veterans, we'll have some moderate success but will go right back to mediocrity very soon.
