If the Avs draft Jones they're victims to the media craze over him.

The best problem to have as a GM is 4 top 6 centres. Trade Statsny and O'Reilly for D-Men and draft MacKinnon. Take your 2nd rounder and draft a two-way centre. 3-4 years you're the Penguins and the Blackhawks.

Jones is over-hyped and runs as far away from the physical game as he can. He's a pu$sy. Waste of a #1 pick in this draft class.

So you mean draft an undersized forward like Edmonton keeps doing. Sounds like a dumb idea to me. I'd be drafting Drouin over MacKinnon. Who had 5 assists on 6 goals tonight?

The Sabres will give you Myers, Sekera, the 8th pick and a 2nd for the 1st overall. You will have your lots of D if you take one at 8th.
- GilPerreault11

seriously? I would hesitate to trade Myers for Jones straight up. There is no guarantee any of these guys pan out. You would trade one potential franchise defensemen (Myers) a top 10 pick , a top 4 defensemen ( Sekera) and a 2nd rounder for a potential franchise defenseman?

It would be different If it were a generational player like Crosby. But it's not even obvious Jones is the top prospect on the draft

Stastny for Phaneauf, grabo, and a second

O'Reilly for Postma and second

make a hard push for Streit sign Raymond

McGinn Duchene Parenteau
Landy MacKinnon Downie
Raymond Grabo Jones
Bordeleau Malone Palushaj

Heida Phaneauf
Johnson Barrie
Streit Obrien

Edit: if MacKinnon is taken first over all obviously

You mean draft a 6ft 18 year old centre, over a 5'10 winger, who had a hat trick to lead his team to the championship?

Seeing as how MacKinnon is better than Duchene, Statsny and O'reilly, yes I would draft MacKinnon. Jones is all hype. He won't even be the best d-man in this draft class.

I'd love to know why you think MacKinnon, at 6 feet, is undersized? Statsny, O'reilly are 6 feet and Duchene is 5'11, and they're all over 18 years of age.

If you want to get franchise players, top picks in the draft, which Darcy said the Sabres will need to challenge for a Cup, you have to overpay to get them. You have to give up something to get something and what I listed might not even be enough. I'm willing to take a chance that MacKinnon would be one of those franchise players needed.

Stastny doesn't get you Dion straight up let alone with a pick and Grabovski. Dion out scored Statsny as a defenseman

Hall is pretty big... Yakupov is built like a tank. RNH is pretty tall, and will hit puberty shortly. Eberle was taken 22nd overall... He was a steal.

The guy is a dummy. MacKinnon is as big or bigger than all of they're top 3 centres.

There is no consensus number 1. They all could be great. No sense in giving up a boatload for the number 1 when you can trade up to 5 and get someone who might be better than the number 1 overall pick

Hall is the only one who seems to stay relatively healthy, I hear Canadian medicine is building RNH a pair of new shoulders using stem cell research (illegal in the united states) and Yakupov is good at doing one thing, celebrating, not actually playing, like AO but minus all the goals. Eberle hasn't been all that healthy either.

Well yak was on pace for 30 goals in a full season and played the whole 48. Eberle has missed 4 games in the last 2 seasons bub. Nice try though. Good thing you know your stuff before you run your mouth

Myers isn't panning out right now though is he

You think Myers, Sekera, 9th overall, and a 2nd'd get you a generational like crosby?

Mackinnon'll be having 100 point seasons in the near future

He doesn't stay healthy because of his reckless style which he's toned down a lot. Missed 20 games last year because of a re-occurring shoulder injury from when he was 15/16.

The only one to really be worried about injury-wise is RNH because of his boy scout frame

Way too much. And not Crosby now but at the draft yea that would be about the max I would pay for a bonafide consensus number 1. Your trading 2 established NHLers , one who has the ability to be a Norris candidate, the other a solid top 4 guy, a top 10 pick that could end up an All star, and a 2nd

There are obviously only 5 potential trade partners in the top 5. You'll be lucky to get one of them to make a deal. The Avs need D and the Sabres could give them what they need so that is why I threw that trade out to the Avs fan.

I am sick of settling for middle 1st round picks. Losing Sekera and Myers won't kill them. That eight pick might be a nice piece but is most likely not a player you build a team around, odds are much higher that MacKinnon will be someone you can build the team around.
