Sure both are possible. It's also likely that if Florida won they'd pick MacKinnon anyhow, since they have several excellent young defensemen in their system now.

So why "fix" it? If you're going to tamper, tamper to get a star attraction into Phoenix, where the market is in danger of being lost.

The NHL just approved the sale of the Coyotes to a Canadian group.

Imo, the yotes will either be in Markham or Quebec within 5 years.

Bartulis played in 66 games for the Flyers and was a starter for only about a half of one season (nine points, minus-12) whereas Jones was a starter for two-and-a-half seasons and had a 31-point, plus-8 season in 71 games in 2007-08.

Why isn't Jimmie Watsons jersey hanging from the rafters? Is he even in the Flyers hall of fame?
5 time allstar in 10 years. That's incredible.

Because he has not been elected to the NHL Hall of Fame.

He will likely be the next inductee in the team's hall of fame, but I doubt his number will be retired. He was a very good defenseman, but not a HHOF level guy. The only reason Mark Howe's(and Bill Barber's for that matter) number is hanging is their induction in the HHOF.

After Howe and Barber, several players wore their numbers.

Is that the criteria? Ed van impe and joe Watson were elected to the NHL hall o fame?

Edit....ok I got it now about the jersey....

But still ,how it's taken so long for election to the flyers hall is odd.

It's odd and long overdue. Of course Jimmy was overshadowed for a lot of his Flyers tenure, too. The quiet Watson definitely deserves to be honored.

Neither are in the HHOF.

Ashbee was an exception, but you only get your number retired in the rafters if you get a HHOF induction.

Ill Bet Watson gets in the Flyers HOF next season. It IS weird he is not already in.

Yeah, Ashbee was honored with the retired number because of his untimely death and impact as a team leader, more than his on ice contributions.

If there was no lockout, I think he would have been inducted this past season.

A nice guy too, who has developed many a youth hockey player in this area. A couple headed to D 1 NCAA programs next season.

When I went to last summer's rookie camp, he was sitting in the middle of the crowd, just enjoying the play on the ice. It was a perfect metaphor for his career. Not many folks recognized him, but he was gracious and nice to those who did.

My kid plays for him. He, IMO, is the epitome of how youth sports should be coached. More concerned with teaching accountability, responsibility, etc, than worrying about W's and L's.

That's how it should be at that level, for sure. Too many kids get the fundamentals skipped over.

I will always insist that as much as people want to scream conspiracy every time there's a favorable lottery for some team at another's expense that there are way too many people, and most of them petty, involved in the process and no way we wouldn't know pretty quickly about a true scandal. This isn't 1940.

I'm sure that there are cover-ups ad conspiracies that do go on. To me it's much ado about nothing. Colorado was guaranteed a top 3 pick, and honestly, I think that Florida likely would have gone with MacKinnon even if they had kept the top slot, which would have left Jones to go to Colorado as the 2nd pick.

It's not even Florida's expense, because they'll still get one of Jones, MacKinnon or Drouin.

It'd be easier for the league to get the gm's to agree on who to pick than rigging the lottery since the top 3-5 teams are pretty much guaranteed those top spots. Rather than rig a lottery which any number of people could blow the whistle on.

I'm more pissed that they kept the same lottery structure for the draft coming off the lost year. They should have had one ball per team.....NHL Is run by monkeys
