Never know, Fucale could fall to us at 37, assuming we keep it. I was pissed when we missed out on Dansk last year.
- ystoil

Dansk is terrible. He had an .888SV%. Albeit on the worst team(second worst?) team in the OHL

Yea, small centres but surrounded by large wingers.
- TandA4Flames

hence signing bickell. And Hall doesn't play like a small winger 6'1 195. Reckless playing style

If MacKinnon has a whale of a game in the final today, don't be so sure Jones will be the top pick either.

Sakic knows franchise centres are extremely hard to find & anyone who says MacKinnon has bust written all over him, is simply wrong!!!

One game is going to change the outcome of that?

that lineup has 0 grit/toughness. You wont win without some guys who can bang bodies when they need to. Take Clarkson off our hands

he'd be ideal but there's no way he's signing in EDM

Edmonton needs to get rid of at least two of their flashy players (Hemsky, Horcoff, and Gagner) other than their younger draft picks in order to fill their spots with players who that fill their needs; size, defensive responsibility, etc. Their talent would be highly desired elsewhere (Nashville, Phoenix, Columbus, Winnipeg, New Jersey, Florida, etc.) and the teams that want those players have players Edmonton would want.

Also, Colorado doesn't need another franchise center. If they don't pick Jones, which isn't probable, then they probably will pick Drouin. After signing O'Reilly and Duchene, they don't need another good center. They already have Stastny at 6.5 million playing on their third line; they need to get rid of him by the way.

LOL Horcoff is anything but flashy. But yes, I agree.

I proposed this deal a while back and I'd like your take being a Nashville fan.

To NSH: Gagner, Hemsky, 37th overall and Anaheims second, 7th overall, a D prospect like Musil
To Edm: Wilson, Gaustad, 4th overall

Assume Edmonton retains half of Hemsky's salary and cap, so it's essentially Hemsky at 2.5 million for one year. Would you alter anything? Maybe Paajarvi instead of Hemsky?

He's been solid all season long & in the race for #1 all season long but the last game could be the difference-maker IF the Avs have MacKinnon & Jones rated quite closely.

All this talk about Jones going to Denver because of home-grown roots has some merit but it's also over-blown because MacKinnon is an elite talent as well & centres of that nature are very hard to find.

So again, I don't think it's a slam-dunk that the Avs are taking Jones!!

Never really understood the Mac = potential bust stuff...especially when it is followed by how great Drouin is.

If anything his fancy moves and extreme finesse has the greater potential to not work out at the next level. NHL history is loaded with fancy danglers that could never make it work, not too many players that give it their all and can get things done multiple ways like Mac fail completely.

that's how I feel. I can't see him dipsy doodling around chara. I'd take Barkov before I take Drouin

I like Nashville staying where they are at the fourth overall spot. The Predators pride themselves on developing their young players and Wilson might be hard for management to part with. I don't think Edmonton will want to take on Gaustad's 4 million dollar contract.

I don't think Nashville needs another D prospect sense they already have Bartley, Ellis, Josi, and Ekholm all vying for spots. They would probably prefer to draft a defenseman rather than trade for another young one.

That would be hard to pass up for Nashville but at the same time, how often do big trades like this happen. Speculation is just that. I prefer not to speculate but here is one I think might happen. Buffalo trades up to Carolina for a defensive prospect. Carolina gets two defenseman and Buffalo gets a great player to build upon.

Colorado needs defense. Possibly Klefbom, this years first, and next years first.

I'd much prefer that. I wouldn't trade eberle and the 7th, just what it would cost in terms of getting that first.

We need Klefbom soon though, so I doubt we would want to give up him. Maybe Marincin, both seconds, 7th overall and next years first. We draft Jones.

No roster players given up. However, does not make us better next year. Jones is another rookie, and although has franchise defenseman written all over him, likely doesn't impact us in the standings next year. Rather put that same package together with a roster player for an existing top 2 Dman.

Backes'd cost like Hall+ and EDM isn't trading their franchise player
- TheNugeIsHuge

really? I think it'd be Backes' + ... if you can find a fan or GM that would take Backes' over Hall they'd probably would either be a big homer, or not right in the head

You talk about the Oil needing size, then your roster next season has the 145lbs soaking wet Rajala in the lineup??? Oh i get it, you just heard about him the other day cause he is scoring for the Barons in the playoffs so ya penciled him in. Way to keep showing your hockey knowledge Clout's

you won't find someone with a bigger Hall Homer Boner than me, but Backes is their best forward, has huge compete level, is huge, and was a selke candidate last year.

Not saying I would ever trade Hall for Backes, but it would command in that range for him
