Until they draft, I'm gonna hope for him. Yzerman likes BIG defensemen and this guy is that, but still plays well. You need to see some video of this guy. Murray may have his top five, but ALOT can happen between now and the Draft. We still have Combine to do and if he can show his stuff then maybe, just maybe.

after the memorial cup performace....nathan mackinnon has 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points in 2 games against seth jones so he could go 1st easily and the panthers could take drouin so wed have jones

Honestly, any of the guy's in Murray's top five have me very excited. If we venture outside that list, I start to get a little bit nervous.

This team, which already has an abundance of young talent, has a chance to add another superstar this year. Passing up that opportunity would be brutally silly.

Everything points to Colorado taking Jones, but I agree that MacKinnon could be of great interest to them after his Memorial Cup and the fact that they've hired Roy. If Florida did take Drouin to play with Huberdeau, Jones falls to us and the world gifts us one fantastic player.

That, to me, is the perfect situation. However, even if it doesn't, we're still getting a star. Everything would have to fall into place for us to land Jones, but stranger things have happened.

Listen to analysts who believe that Roy's influence could sway the Avalanche towards a player out of the Q, and it starts to look a whole lot more likely. Combine that with MacKinnon's play in the Memorial Cup, where he lit up Jones' Winterhawks like a Christmas tree, and there's a general feeling that Jones may not be the lock at number one as was originally thought. My feeling is that he still goes number one, but if you listen to most draft analysts today, there's a lot of folks who are saying that MacKinnon should go number one.

I think that the other three picks are probably "safer," as I've pointed out in the blog, but we all know that Yzerman hasn't been one to draft safely in the past. I, for one, will put my trust with Murray and Yzerman. They'll make the right decision.
