List of UFA centers is pathetic.

Bozak is top 3 easy.

Someone will pay him. He knows it.

- robin_steele264

On the other hand, the number of teams with much space to spend isn't very much. There will also be guys on the market this summer by way of trade (dump), because their teams can't afford to keep them.

In fact, the list of UFAs will grow when the compliance buyouts hit.

Depends on the player. I'd love to see the Leafs grab a veteran stay at home to play third pairing with Reilly this year. Have his back and show him the ropes. A Douglas Murray perhaps.
- honesthockey

They need a good veteran like Scuderi or Murray, especially to take the load off Dion.

I wonder if Luke Schenn will flourish later on in his career or is going to to just be average all his career? The Leafs really fukked his development by rushing him.
- GCHonda

See I don't think they did. I think he's gonna be a really good defensemen for a long time and I think he learned a lot in the NHL early.

I thought it was kinda funny...reminds me of those Hitler hockey videos.

Just can't believe the effort put in to make a point about a video game system. Guess that stuff really matters to a lot of people.

IMO I'd really target Clarkson and let him play his game a little more offense. Then I'd look at some solid defensemen. Two maybe 3 even.
- honesthockey

I love the idea of Clarkson. I don't know if it would work, but I'm up for giving it a shot.

The downside is who do you target for Dmen? I'd take any of Hainsey, Murray, Ference, Scuderi or Regehr (who would not come and play with Dion), but the downside is they're all gonna get so overpaid that the Komisarek deal could look like a steal in comparison...

yeah, he had hands. But how often did you see him deke anyone out of their shorts? Never. He just went through them. As I said, not about skill set, or stats. It's a style to me. Just like you'll never see Datsyuk drive through someone. He'll get by you, and you can't lay a finger on him if you try.
- Dirte

Just saying that they're usually a combo of both. Bert would never deke anyone out like Datsyuk (and really, who does?) but he had hands to supplement his power and that's why he was so dangerous. If they didn't need at least some hands, then every brickhead in the NHL would be a PF.

Are you nuts? Bozak was on the ice for almost 200 more minutes, took all the key faceoffs plays on the power play plus penalty kill and is the only Leaf center who has shown he can play full time with Kessel. Jesus H Christ.
- honesthockey

Holy (frank) is he your brother? Your obviously (frank)ing lost on the ice - Grabo makes plays - Bozak takes draws and gets to plat with his boyfriend - (frank) get your head out of your ass. Your judging Grabo on a 1/2 season playing with (frank)ing Colton Orr and making comparisons to a guy playing with Kessel. Grabo can fit on almost any line maybe Kessel and Grabo don't mesh well but that doesn't make Bozak better. I would love to keep Bozak at 2 million but $5m you would have to be a complete ducking moron to sign him to that.

Ohh I have no doubt he will have a solid lengthy career but the road for him could have been easier/smoother if the Leafs didn't rush him.

I'm thinking Nonis would be wise to wait Bozak out.

The price will fall the more guys that hit the market. And like you said, who has the money or cap space or total mental retardation to give him 5.5 mil?

Any and every NHL player has some skills. The difference between Bertuzzi having good hands and a guy who plays like him and doesn't, is a good power forward and a not so good one.

As I said, I don't think it has anything to do with the level of skill. It's the style of play.

Yes they play tough. That's pretty established. The difference between a PF and a bottom 6 guy that plays tough? Skill. You don't score goals being tough. The path to the net may be different between a Bertuzzi and a Datsyuk, but the end result is achieved through skill.

Mabie George Costanza can buy this disturbing painting & put it next to his painting of the triangles. George can look forward to many years of the nipple eye & the triangles.

yeah, the path to the net is different. Hence, different style.

The bottom six guys aren't generally offensive forwards. Or at least, that's not really why they're there. So that's different.

Until you add in Brad Richards, Grabovski (?), and any other players that get bought out.

I think there will be more players available than money.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Richards won't get bought out

The dmen you could at least walk away from. Clarkson nope.
