Seabrook only saw 12min of icetime & was called out by his coach...
Could he be available?
Something like Ennis, Pysyk & a pick

Stafford for Burmistrov

Miller for Simmonds & a 1st

Hackett(or Makarov or Ullmark) & a 1st for Bernier

Vanek for.....
*maybe we make those moves and Vanek will re-sign?
But I'd still be VERY nervous about signing him to that 8yr, 8mil per deal... The guy is already consistently hurt by mid-season every year, and never finishes the season as the same player he is the first half...
I think I deal him anyways, we'd still get a great return...

- jdfitz77

I want Vanek to stay but if that deal that was posted on here is true, 8 mill a year puts Vanek in the Crosby, Malkin area and he's not close to that. Crosby and Malkin make 8.7 a year Vanek is 7 at the most IMO. No way would I move Miller to the Flyers.

i could get behind vanek at 7mil/per and assuming the aflie/spezza role in our turn around. give him the C (who wears it if he gets moved !?!?)...

The 8 years worries too bc he's already consistently getting hurt
At this point, it's prob best to move him bc we should still be able to get a REALLY nice return

Ps, don't know if u saw last night...
But we actually agree on something, hahaha...
I like McNeil a lot

No clue but the way it looks now is that Vanek is a goner, He will get 7 mill or more from some team. I guess when you say you will "contend" every year as Darcy does and then you don't and good players leave or get traded away that are suppose to lead the team, you tend to want out. Can't figure out how Darcy still has a job, Darcy runs this team just like he runs the owner.

I seen that and for the record Miller for McNeil + would work for me if we couldn't get Hossa.

Vanek, Hodgson, Hossa is a nice number 1 line.

He asked...
So don't get mad at me everyone...

Ehrhoff-Seabrook
McNabb-Myers
Sekera-Weber
(Sulzer or Pardy)

Foligno-Hodgson-Tropp
Ott-Grigorenko-Simmonds
Leino-Burmistrov-Flynn
Gerbe-Porter-Kaleta
McCormick
Scott

If Burmistrov doesn't work out,
By next year at the latest Larsson should be ready
Also, Girgensons and Armia should def be ready too
And hopefully, that all is enough to make Ott wanna re-sign
So in TWO years...

Foligno-Hodgson-Simmonds
Ott-Grigorenko-Armia
Girgensons-Larsson-Tropp/Burmistrov
Kaleta-Porter/Burmistrov-Flynn/Tropp
Could give us FOUR nice lines...
And the only guys over 26 would be Ott, Kaleta & Porter
Plus, we have enough depth there to package a couple guys for someone like O'reilly if we want too (Burmistrov, Flynn, pick?)

Of course, this all works on NHL2012 and we win multiple cups!!!

I'm sorry but IMO we have 30 goals combined with all your forward lines you have, those F line combo's will get us NO PLACE.

Assuming they can stay healthy though
That's really my biggest concern
I like Vanek a lot
And Hossa is prob better, at least all-around
But both injury risks
We'd live & die off that line though
Reminds me of something the Rangers would try and do

Armia scores 30 alone
There is depth there though to try and trade for "stars" should they be available

And your point is? I said Vanek would get 7mill and that's average for players like him.

Its not average for players like him. There are currently 10 forwards in the NHL who make more than Vanek (of course you'll be adding Corey Perry and Getzlaf to that list next year):

Ovechkin, Alex $9,538,462
Malkin, Evgeni $8,700,000
Crosby, Sidney $8,700,000
Staal, Eric $8,250,000
Nash, Rick $7,800,000
Lecavalier, Vincent $7,727,273
Parise, Zach $7,538,462
Heatley, Dany $7,500,000
Gaborik, Marian $7,500,000
Stamkos, Steven $7,500,000
Vanek, Thomas $7,142,857

Of those 10, only Nash, Gaborik and Lecavalier are overpaid contracts. Nash received his contract because he was the ONLY star in Columbus. He was overpaid because they could offer him that and wanted him there. Gaborik got his in free agency when the Rangers wanted him badly. He was coming off three straight point per game seasons though. Lecavalier received his contract after some impressive seasons.

Heatley received his contract after 2 straight 50-50 seasons and a 40-40 season. His sharp decline couldnt have been that predictable although his attitude may have foreshadowed it.

Behind Vanek, there are only 4 other forwards who make $7M.

Spezza, Jason $7,000,000
Iginla, Jarome $7,000,000
Thornton, Joe $7,000,000
Semin, Alexander $7,000,000

Semin might be the only contract of these players that is overpaid.

In short, no the market for a player like Vanek is nowhere near $7M. There are 4 players out of 17 that make $7M per year or more that have overpaid contracts.

All the overpaid contracts were either given to the only perceived stars on a team or in free agency.

You think Vanek will take a pay cut?
