What's his tee time today ?
- philco28

He is actually waiting for the Black Hawks next game to end. He wants to play a round with Kaner.

He heard there are good courses in Indiana.

You could see it on thier faces when the lost game 3, they never considered losing. it never crossed their minds. Further evidenced by the Jonathan Toews mini meltdwn last night. Its a classic example of being hot at the wrong time.

Mike Weber on WGR, sounds intelligent. What is he worth as a RFA?

I've always liked mike Since the Portland days. Solid player, solid dude. Hopedfully he stays around at a nice price around 2 Mil per.

A couple of thoughts.

First and foremost lay this series directly at the feet of Q and his clueless coaching staff. They seemingly have made zero adjustments other than trying to shuffle some lines. Babcock and the Wings have made changes to take away what the Hawks are trying to do. If they try and skate the Wings push them outside, if they try the stretch passes the wings shut down the middle, Q tries to get cute and mix the lines and it keeps Zetterberg away from Toews for 1 shift. The PP has sucked for months, and they have made zero changes to it. Maybe shuffled the personnel, but the structure has remained the same for several years.

This series has NOTHING to do with how Crawford has played, anyone laying blame at his feet is seriously mis-guided.

Seabrook has been horrible all season and has gotten worse in the playoffs. When did he turn into Cam Barker?

The more Bolland plays the lower his value goes. He may have brought a decent return before, now you may only get a bag of pucks for him (used ones at that)

Kane/Toews/Hossa/Sharp/Keith/Hjarm are NOT the problem with this team. Some of them have not had a great series, but the remain elite players.

Q needs to wake his a s s up and make some adjustments, and I'm not talking about some stupid line changes. Your down a goal in the 3rd of a pivitol game and you manage 6 shots on goal in the 3rd, unacceptable. You have 3 PP chances and manage 1 shot TOTAL, unacceptable. Make a F'n adjustment at somepoint

Until this year Weber was barely an AHL calibur defenseman.

Good blog, JJ.

I think we should trade Toews. Thoughts?

Don't all these Blackhawk fans have a Vince Vaughn movie they should be watching instead of reading a Garth blog ?

That isn't a fair statement. It has been pretty clear that Crawford is not an elite goaltender and relies on a great team game to make his game great.

Like the Bears Crawford is who we thought he was, good enough but predicated on the play in front.

- fattybeef

Look at the bad goals he's given up at the worst time starting last year in the playoffs against Phoenix. Look at the shot he let in vs. Minnesota in OT.. the Datsyuk goal after the Stalberg goal was disallowed. He scares people to death especially in OT.

I think he's improved in terms of his approach and positioning and being more aggressive but out of the 8 goalies left in the playoffs, he's the worst.

honestly, If I was a hawks fans. Id stay as far away from Ryan Miller as possible.
dudes a whiney little b!tch. Locker room distraction with nothing but negative shyt to say. Hence why Buffalo is looking to move him.

- vancity787

I've read some of that stuff but a lot can be contributed to the culture within. That team is terrible. I understand about being a man and setting a good example but I think he needs a change of scenery.

That is just not true at all....his first taste of the NHL he was a +12 and was very solid and was only 19 or 20 then. He went through some injuries and it took him some time to get back on track....you should know about a player before you say something it makes you look bad if you don´t

I was thinking the same thing.. Him and Sekera were our top D pairing during that stretch of games at the end of the season..

I agree completely and have been saying much of the same. But I do not think that Seabrook has been that bad albeit he is not playing up to his paycheck nor his standards.

1) Faceoffs suck because the hawks get little support from forwards moving out of position at the point-of-play. This coupled with the hawks being very thin at centers who excel at winning draws.

2) I can't agree more with the coaching strategies. It's like, Q, wake up man.

3) Crawford was great last night and has been at least average to great all series.

I'm sure if Ryan Miller played golf then he would have to quit hockey because he would be on the PGA tour. His eliteness isn't just reserved for hockey. I'm pretty sure he would be the next Fred Couples.

Weber was a train wreck until this year. He would have stretches where he looked ok for a few games. He was a -19 last year and was the 7th d man coming into the year. And he's 25, he was never here at 19

Phoenix was last year, let it go. The Minnesota goal in OT was not great, but not horrible, more the fault of horrible defense and coverage. The Datsyuk goal did not cost the game, maybe took a little wind out of the sails, but you still scored only 1 goal. Conversely, he has kept the Hawks in games against Minn and Det in which they were being badly outplayed. The 1st goal of the playoffs may be the only truly "soft" goal, there are others where he maybe could have bailed them out, but that is ridiculous to blame him for others mistakes.

Most of the other goalies that are left have given up more bad goals. He is far from the worst of what is left. He statistically ranks #2 behind Quick, and even Quick has given up a few bad ones. Anderson gave up 6 to Pitts, maybe only one could be considered soft, where was he bailing out his team in that game?

Crawford is not the reason the Hawks are down 3-1 unless you expect him to pitch shutouts every game.
