Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg is tormenting Toews to the point that he has pooped his cork.
Editing at its finest, or maybe just a case of habit from talking about the Sabres all year. |

The changes need to start in the front office, but there are several of their "core" that need to be moved *cough* Bolland, *cough* Seabrook. Q is getting outcoached big time. This team just hasn't adapted to what Detroit is doing to them. |

Detroit are interference artists and get away with it. When they move east they will start getting calls. |

You forgot....
how badly outcoached Q is getting by Babcock. His defensive gameplan is neutralizing the Hawks speed
the Hawks have no idea how to execute on the power play
they put no traffic in front of the goalie so shots are always seen, from the perimeter and there's no chance at any rebounds
Crawford is a mental midget and while he's been pretty good, Howard has outplayed him
They are getting killed in the faceoff dot |

They drove the Pens nuts doing the same thing in their SCF series. Slight hooks, holds, interference and you're right, they get away with it. |

Hmm does his last name start with M and end in iller?
As much as I'd love him, I think two issues come in to play.
1. His salary. Hawks are 2 mil under and with the cap going down I'm not sure they can do such a move.
2. The front office has too many cooks in the kitchen and will focus this offseason on the 24 game point streak to open the season and everything is fine and nothing needs to be dramatically changed. As part of that, they'll point to Crawford bouncing back and say "I told you so" since they said most goalies go through a soph slump. Too many egos to admit giving him a new deal was a mistake. His contract is up next summer so if they think they can trade him then go in another direction then fine. I just don't see it happening.
Also factor in while I think there are issues in goal, the bigger issue is up front. They need less finesse and more grit. Guys who will go to the net, play hard along the walls, etc. Where are the Brouwers, Byfuglien's, Ladd's on this squad? Those guys had skill and grind. |

If this is a "gang style alley fight" what would a series with the Kings be?
It's not like Quennville has much choice but to play Toews against Zetterberg, Wings have had home ice. So unless he has him immediately come to the bench when Z hits the ice he has to keep him out there.
And if he can't handle playing against Z is playing against Datsyuk really going to help him? Or is going to sit on the bench except for the ten or twelve minutes the kid line plays even strength? |

This. The guys they have now mistake cross checks and face washes after the whistle for grit. Grit is going to the net consistently and taking your beating and still making a play. Old Danny Clearly is playing gritty, Bickell and Shaw are not. Nobody ever won a series with cross checks and face washes after the whistle, particularly against the Wings. |

This is what I admire most about Detroit. They show toughness not by fighting, or blowing people up (though guys like Kronwall do have that ability), like so many people in this town absolutely fall in love with and seemingly would rather have that a Championship team. They show toughness by playing their game no matter what. I remember last season, shortly after the Miller-Lucic incident, when everybody here was calling for goons that could kick Lucic's face in rather than players that could actually play, Detroit went into Boston and beat them. Boston tried their goon tactics, and Detroit didn't let it phase them. While Boston tried to put them out of the building, Detroit simply put the puck in the back of Boston's net. That's the kind of team I want Buffalo to be, a team that takes hits to make plays. |

As much as I would like to see change on the horizon we will still get another "We like our group" speech in August after limited movement over the summer. We'll hear about the "core" guys and the young guys coming up and it will all be the same garbage that the fans have heard for the last three years.
Leddy will resign and perhaps Bickell. Stalberg is gonzo.
The only player I see getting moved is Bolland. One because he's been awful in the postseason, two because he's made of glass and three, his contract comes up for renewal in June of 2014. The following summer Kane, Toews and Saad are all up for renewal and the Hawks won't have the $ to keep 36 around.
I will say this. If Bowman (or whomever is really pulling his string) can get on the horn with Lindy Ruff right now and gain his interest....I'm fine with coach Q exiting stage left. |

If it did happen the Sabres better hope Kane is never late for practice, because he won't be able to find a cab in Buffalo anymore. |

Change has to come from the front office.
Bowman has done NOTHING... The cup team was created by Tallon.
Fire Q, Fire Bowman, Fire john Mcdonough and his team of mental midgets who've done nothing but create the false hype that its because of them the Hawks sell out.
Time to roll up their sleeves and get dirty... |
