Nah....Feaster would be on the phone to him and give him another stupid offer in seconds.
- Iggysbff

you are probably right... if not Feaster, Gillis.

Ya... Gillis 'cause surely he's got CAP space, and 'cause Luongo's got a great contract - let's do another.

Ask Wedgie who the Leafs acquired last time they went FA shopping for a center

ding ding ding.... that would be

Timmy "the Tin Man" or "the Answer" Connolly. (In his case it can be pronounced Con Know Li)...

soft, lazy, entitled... other than that he was great!

the Richards buyout will be just the beginning of the amnesty buyouts.

Plenty of teams with bad contracts out there, should be a fun summer. This is just magnified because people hate NY

I think he's just putting his best guys out there have you seen how bad Richards has been?
- Genev21

Even still, at $6.67Mil a year, they gotta move him and will still prob eat some of the contract. His value will only decrease the longer they wait - another stupid contract to a past-his-prime player. Bure, Lindros, Redden, Drury, Gomez, Gaborik....next up.....Nash in a year or so....

they will use an amnesty buyout on Richards

Like the Islanders will do on Dipietro.

Only difference is, the Rangers didn't use a number 1 overall pick on Richards

The Blues should definately have interest if he is bought out.

I concur 100%. Man, he'd be good at centre.

Seriously, wtf is wrong with NYC & athletes? Sure, there's more media here than almost anywhere else, but these guys have been playing under pressure since they were in jr hockey 10-15 yrs ago. That being said, I would LOVE to see Richards wearing a Blue note next season. He's the kind of guy that could put the Blues over the top.

...or, could it be as simple as Richards is playing like sh!t and the Torts thinks someone else can be more productive?
- duxcup07

Tortorella is doing a good job of getting himself booted. I hope he keeps @ it. As my 2nd team, I hate to see that a$$hole run the Rangers into the ground.

Richards would help probably 25 teams in the league, provided they have a system that encourages at least some offence and creativity...still, gonna command 5 Mil so unless your team has the room don't expect him to sign some bargain contract, unless you happen to live in the city he loves most.

The Blues are in the market for a #1 center. Most players want to play for teams that are stacked with talent, as the Blues are. If he is bought out & is a FA come July 5, he'd be an idiot not to take a look at the Blues. Sure, Toronto/Chicago/Boston/whichever big market team will probably offer more than the Blues can, but if he cares about winning, STL is a good option.

Gaborik, Nash, and Richards is a 20 million plus mistake. You should feel lucky you got anything for that bum Gaborik, won't say the same for when you trade Richards for a bag of pucks.
