if theyre the leaders and the go to guys going forward then its tough to argue against your point. we'll never be great until they are.

but neither will this team go much furthur without many other holes addressed as well. better yes with just time for the kids. but not a great team with the same roster.

time with these kids was always gonna be an issue. no reason we cant be working at other areas.

and as i said, i also think this team coulda been a playoff team with the same kids, but all of the things i mentioned along with them.

- hugefemale dog77

I'm not expecting to become great overnight. I'm expected playoffs next year and more than likely a first round spanking as our key guys aren't physically mature.

Can you see a top 6 of Hall, RNH, Eberle, Gagner, Yak and whoever being able to play against a CHI or LA or STL?

That's why I'm being patient. Because until those kids start playing like men we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

Good stuff.

I agree, Krueger wasn't the problem. That being said, Nelson is an organizational asset and if we don't snap him up for the big club soon, some other franchise is going to get him away from us. Gotta believe he'd listen to an offer for the Oilers first. I'd flat out give him an associate job if he wants it, but he might have eyes for the Buffalo head coach job given that they're a young team going into a rebuild.

I don't think Nelson would help this team. He is a better team without Hall, Eberle, RNH and Schultz. The game he coaches those guys wanted nothing to do with.

I was watching a documentary last night that said aliens are among us, and they're not friendly. They blamed 9/11 on aliens and showed a UFO near both towers prior to them falling. I think it is quite possible that aliens have something to do with these so called, "natural" disasters as well. Yes, I believe tornadoes/earthquakes/floods are caused by aliens.

This is something I have always wondered. Why is it that people always say you would have to over pay for a guy like Benn. But they don't think other teams would have to overpay for a Hall, Nuge, Yak? MacT said it as well. The Oilers know how hard it was to get those guys so if anyone wanted one of them, THE OTHER TEAM would have to overpay.

So Benn straight across for one of Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Yak would be more likely. Neither side would have to add.

- Iggysbff

But you have to consider how this affects each team. Benn is a big young top 6 C. DAL doesn't have a replacement for that so acquiring Yaks etc. alone makes them a worse team IMO. Guys like Benn are tough to get, tougher than a scoring winger.

EDM has redundancy on the wings so moving 1 of Hall, Ebs or Yak isn't as big a blow to the team.

Soooo, having said all this, I think Benn is just perfect right where he is.

wooo kay. It was a thought. Makes sense to me.

More thought made me sub out the 1st with one of your 2nds considering the players invloved. Still an overpay but more palatable to the Oil.

It's absolutely no surprise you get bashed by the media.

Edit: I love your comments about TML, CLB, Ana & Buf in particular. Good call on the rangers as well.

It's times like this when I love you leafs trolls. Before a couple years ago, Clout's was playing WOW 14 hours a day, then starts writing blogs for a website that has no legitimacy in the hockey world or with the media, and all of a sudden he wants to be respected by them?? Expect the ego to get bigger now that he is writing up classified ads for some small town newspaper.

Here is the top 6 picks of the draft...

Colorado - Seth Jones
Florida - Nate MacKinnon
Tampa Bay - Valeri Nishushkin
Nashville - Aleksander Barkov
Carolina - Jon Drouin(Most likely to trade pick)
Calgary - Sean Monahan

Yes Nishushkin is going to Tampa, they absolutely love the kid & when they sit down with him at the combine, if everything checks out with him opting out of his contract & coming to the NHL, he's Tampa's guy.

Which makes the 5th & 6th picks interesting because Carolina doesn't really need a forward however drafting the best available is still the smartest way to go about the draft & rumors are out there that Jeff Skinner could be available to bring back a top 4 d-man. Which is why they'll take Drouin at 5.

Calgary needs a big centre & Monahan is their guy & it's been the talk around Calgary & the Flames for more than 2 months already how much they love this kid. Is Lindholm more skilled, yes but they want big centres & he'll be there for the taking at 6.

Which leaves the Oilers - they would love Barkov or Monahan but unless they move up via trade, it isn't happening & I can't see any of the top 5 teams moving down unless the trade is very enticing. Barkov is not slipping past 4 & if he does, it's a steal for any team grabbing him at that point.

And no the Hurricanes don't want Gagner in any deal to switch positions with the Oilers. It's time the Oilers traded that pick for immediate help instead of always thinking there's another keeper to add to an already young, inexperienced lineup that clearly lacks muscle & grit up front. Why not dangle the pick for a Simmonds type player instead of adding another 18yr old kid. I think MacT could very well trade this pick, he's a big talker, let's see if he can walk the walk & move the pick for immediate help.
