One year after also landing Lindback for a steep price. The Bolts will not be trading for Miller. Lindback and Bishop will our tandem moving forward. One will step up to become the defacto #1 but both will get plenty of starts to earn it. As for Miller, the Bolts need to move some salary, not pick more up.
Also, those steep prices are the going rates for young goaltenders. Cue up the Bob trade to the Jackets and the Varlamov trade to the Avalanche. If Gillis had dealt Cory the price would have been very steep also. - uf1910
IMO, IF Yzerman does trade for Miller he should be shown the door right afterwards. 3 goalie acquisitions in less than 3 years all at steep prices. |

"Philadelphia:
There is so much we don't know about the Flyers off-season plans, but I do know that as the season wound down I kept hearing Ryan Miller's name being mentioned. Would he come to Philly and stay in the East? Could the Sabres trade him to one of their most hated rivals? Would the Flyers part with a player like Brayden Schenn to make a deal happen?"
1- What are they going to do with Bryz, buy him out and keep him on the books for 14 more years? Yeah, and then 5 years down the road people will be batching that Homer bought him out, and that dead money is strapping them. In my opinion, they either need to find someone willing to take him for practically nothing, just to get rid of the contract (and he needs to waive his NMC, obviously), or just ride him and try to fill other areas of need in front of him. In all honestly, while he may not have been deserving of his $16.5mil the last two seasons, he was quite honestly their best and most consistent player for the first half of the season anyway. Still not worth the money, but if we're talking cutting slackers, he wasn't the prime culprit this season....
2- I wouldn't get rid of Schenn or just about any youth for Miller. Not saying Miller isn't worth it, but "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"... Miller has had his own share of problems and inconsistencies. I guarantee, unless the defense is bolstered a bit, and they start playing together as a team, Miller would just be another victim of the Flyers' goalie black hole. - WarriorHockey21

You dont get Tyler Myers in this deal, just half of his salary so you dont have to worry about that. |

Im not worried about anything. MacT isn't an idiot.
If Buffalo phoned him with a Miller and Myers, for one of Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Yak he would hang up the phone in a second. |

If that were true Luongno would have been on the Leafs for the playoffs. Fact is younger goalies get more. Halak when he was traded got a 1st round pick in Lars Eller. And Halak was a backup at the time. Bishop when he was traded to the Sens the blues got a 2nd round pick i think in Tarasenko or maybe he was a late 1st rounder.
Either way these unproven young goalies got alot in return considering Eller had a semi break out season this year and Bishop was instrumental to the Sens for most of the season before he was traded to the Lightning for Cory Conacher which i believe was also a former 1st round pick. - Leafsfan9329
Bishop was traded to ott for a 2nd
Halak got what he got not because he was young but because he single handledly brought the Habs to the playoffs and win them two rounds , there was even talk they might trade price instead
Cory conacher was undrafted
Luongo was almost traded to leafs in the summer but he declined the deal and then at the deadline the leafs had reimer playing well and the pieces involved in previous offer had become keep players to the leafs

I think it's a pretty bad fit. Edmonton has tons of things to improve, and goaltending is low priority. To get Miller, you create a huge hole in a higher priority position, for one year of a guy who will almost certainly walk. - Morris
I tend to a agree with you for the most part , oilers need guys who can actually play good defensively, good luck moving guy , and a better bottom 6 . Dubby might not be the goalie of the future but I say give him some help before you write him off . |

I only see 2 of those 3. TBL just landed Bishop for a pretty steep price. - ImThatGuy
I would hardly call giving up Cory conacher a steep price |

I suppose that's true. I guess Tampa's going the youth route on goalies. |

It's called consistency , miller has played proved he is a legit starter that can play in the playoffs and bishop has done what exactly ? Miller is worth at least twice as much as bishop. - Redmile247
Miller'll be 34 next year. Bishop 27. Miller's proved in the past he was really good. Not the same goalie. Not even worth as much as bishop
not to mention Bishop was an RFA and Miller has 1 year left on his deal. You're obviously not gonna pay full price for an aged rental goalie |
