There's a push on my wife's side of the family to make him a Sabres fan. My "official" stance is it's his choice, but I'll be lobbying early and often for the Isles. Hopefully he follows his mother's lead for baseball and becomes a Yankees fan though, because I'd never want to curse the poor kid with the Isles and Mets.

My daughter chose both of Daddy's teams (Isles and Chargers) over her mothers teams (Flyers & 49ers). I guess this means I'll have to pay for her wedding day afterall...

Heh..basically started cheering for them about the same time as Isles (1978). I was at a stage in life where I wanted to go against the grain on everything and the Eagles were becoming a contender for the Super Bowl, so I cheered for the hottest team that year in the AFC. Air Coryell made it easy to watch...

As the perfect example of the irony that is my life, I met my wife to be 15 years later who just so happened to have been born in San Diego...but was she a Chargers fan?
She was a 49ers fan...so of course that first year while we dated, the Chargers met the 49ers in the Super Bowl as Steve Young lit us up for 6tds....

I have a deepseated hatred for the 49ers for a variety of reasons. The biggest one was when I was in a high roller fantasy league and went to the championship with an undefeated team. We were winning the Championship game going into Monday night and my opponent had the 49ers defense. That league only counted Td's scored for defenses so I was a virtual lock going in up by 8. Kevin Greene suddenly scores a td for the niners....then 5 minutes later (and less than 5 minutes left in the game), Merton Hanks picks off Elway and duck walks in from the 50 yard line....

And with that, the $5k payout went to someone else....
