Dam shame he actually putting up good numbers these playoffs. I like bozak but get everyone point that he's not a number 1 center perfect third line/ penalty kill specialist/ face off guy
- Yeti1181

I think the reasons there's so much debate, is that most seem to see different qualities in the guy, some have a hard time accepting that the "defacto" first line center isn't an offensive dynamo. Others have a problem because he isn't 6'4" and doesn't weigh 230 lbs. Its pretty clear he isn't the "perfect hockey player"... but then again how many of those are there?

corsi - hocus pocus.... heretic.

obviously not a true believer.

Purely out of curiosity - does anyone know if UG is running the Corsi numbers for all the top draft picks?

Lets settle this for ever. The "true number one centre" is a myth. And a ridiculous one. If you have say a super star centre, like Tavares, Sundin, Crosby, etc. then you can put him with just about any wingers and have a great line.
- Timmy_Bee

This is from last night but confuses me
We did put sundin with just about anybody, it never translated into success. Now we have Kessel and are doing the same, and it has not translated into success.

I dont want just a great line, I want one that get us to the Cup Final

If you have two star wingers what you need is a defensivly responsible centre who can get them the puck and cover his man and win faceoffs. I might add its a bonus if, as Bozak is, he is a great penalty killer.

- Timmy_Bee

Why cant you have a Star Center who is def. responsible also? Or at least voice that you want one, since its hard to acquire one.

The "true number one centre" is b.s because you really need your first line to have 2 scorers and a responsible guy. Doesnt exactly matter what the combo is.

- Timmy_Bee

Why cant you have 3 scorers?

Also, if you don't draft one of those centres, you probably don't get to have one, since there are under 10 in the whole league.

- Timmy_Bee

I have been saying this for a long time, figure out how to draft one.

Obviously youre dumber fans only care about points, but what Bozak brings to the team is just as important when you already have guys whose points wont increase no matter who their centre is.

- Timmy_Bee

Why does it bother you so much where others want to play bozak? He can do everything you suggest while playing on the 3rd line. he can still PK, win faceoffs etc.

My Preference is to find a Center to play on the 1st line who can put up 65+ points, be responsible, make his wingers better (stats show Bozak does not) while also winning 50% or more of the faceoffs.

Smart teams recognize that you cant pay player like Bozak 1st line Money.
Bergeron and Kreiji Make 5 million. they are players I would much rather have for 5 million.

I remember him telling us that we needed to draft Boychuk as he was going to turn into Manchuk and tear it up.

I stopped listening to him after that

So what you've implied is that there are only ten centres better than Bozak in the league. What you're ignoring is that there are another 40-60 centres that are still better than Bozak.
