The logical thing to do is this:

If the Leafs can trade for Stastny & sign UFA Clarkson than do the following: Don't re-sgn Bozak or MacArthur, buy out Brabbo & Komi. Trade Liles for whatever u can get just to get rid of him. I'm sure one of the 29 GM's would take him, even for a 7th.

The Leaf forward lineups next year would look like this:
1st line: Stastny/Kessel/JVR
2nd line: Kadri/ClarksonL/upul
3rd line: McClement/Komorov/Kulemin
4th line: Zigomanis or a UFA 4th line center/Orr/Fraser

With the Leafs not choosing till the 20th pick, it is a tradable pick, mabie they can dangle that pick in a package for Stastny. Leafs can also use the expendable Frattin as trade bait too. Frattin isn't a checker & would be wasted on the 4th line.

I think the Leafs would greatly improved with this forward group.

Personally I would not be opposed to picking up Stalberg if he's still a UFA. He brings some size and drive, already knows the team, and his speed would be awesome on the third line, with him having the ability to fill in on the second as needed.

You'd have to assume Stastny, playing with Kessel and Lupul/JVR would be deadly. Anyone playing with Phil gets a boost, and the speed on the line would be sick. He's only 27. Only problem becomes the contract and whether they can sign Paul and Phil to contracts at the same time.

If Statsny had produced consistently then I'd have no issue with it, but he's been very inconsistent over the last few years. I like the idea of what Statsny CAN bring, but that is no indication of what he WILL bring.

Aswell, I wouldn't re-sign Bozak at $4.5 5 to 5 mill per to play on the 3rd or 4th, he isn't a 3rd or 4th line guy. It's proven that McClement/Komorov/Kulemin make an amazing 3rd line checking trio. Aswell, Leafs will need an inexspensive 4th line center. Either promote Zigomanis who's great on faceoffs or sign a UFA 4th line center.

it will go like this, either the Leafs will pay Bozak $4.5 per to play with Kessel or they will let him walk. He will want a big raise. Leafs won't triple his salary to put him on the 3rd or 4th line.

I would bring up Ziggy - always wondered why they went with Steckel instead of him. Great penalty killer checking guy. Why I like Bozak is because you can't have Grabs on the 3rd line, he isn't even good on the draws so there isn't a choice in that instance. I also like it - even at 4.5 million because Bozak can slide right into those roles at any time if there is an injury or a strategic faceoff he can swing in and doesn't hurt you at all even on the top line, another guy may not fit in. Stastny, Kadri, Bozak, McClem, Ziggy as the fifth, while they could even put Ziggy and McC together sometimes as both have played wing, and McC is a good winger especially. Just think it gives them huge versatility.

No, Orr and FraZer do not need to be on the 4th line. Clarkson brings fists with his acquisition and Torres still demands respect with his toughness out there. Mark Fraser rounds it out just fine and on occasion if theres a team we need to throw a fighter out there against, pull McLaren out of the press box. Its about time we have a 4th line that can hold the puck in the oppositions zone. Look at Boston, at times their 4th line is their best. Torres-McClement-Komarov could easily do that for stretches. Bozak has a choice though, he can sign to be apart of a winning team, or he can go sign top dollar for a bottom feeder like Calgary. If he's smart, he'll take the 4.1 (Liles buyout space) we offer him and stay as an integral piece to our lineup for 3-5 years. Zigo is a lifer in the AHL, he's not going to get his chance on the decline here, he was his best and primed either last year or the year before.
