Stastny ppg for 4 years? He's played 7 years and had 1 ppg year, 2 close to a ppg and the last 4 years in decline not even close to ppg.

Stastny has basically been as productive as grabo the last 2-3 years.

If we're going after an alternative for Bozak at C we have the assets to get a legit #1 C and Stastny is not a legit #1 C, he's a slight upgrade over Grabo and Bozak and even that's debateable. I don't know who's available but if u put the right package together anyone is available.

As you said earlier, our loss wasn't a line-up issue. It was 18 guys who decided they didn't want to play anymore, with 10 minutes left and a 3 goal lead in game 7.

thats because you fail to recognize that due to stastny's strong defensive play.. he has been mostly used in a checking role in these last couple seasons.

when he was the prime centre in an offensive role he was racking up 70+ points

you cant just look at stats and make determinations.. the players role on the club is probably the largest factor to consider.

stats are horribly misleading sometimes

Probably wouldn’t have to spend those legit assets for a number one centre, on Stastny, and therein lies the appeal. Keep the rising young prospects, and get a guy that could give the Leafs a good boost at centre. I don’t know how anyone doesn’t see the appeal in that? Or, are you old school Leaf fan, and you want to see them trade away the future?

Are we being that technical? Ok, in his first four years he put up 264 pts in 274 games. I stand corrected - in his first 4 years he wasn't a ppg player - he was a .9635 pts per game player.

I’m not sure he would be a good first line centre anymore. He might be. It’s a chance I’d be willing to take, as his contract isn’t super long, and he’d come reasonably cheap.

I haven't read all the comments and I may be repeating what's already been said but I'd like to add a d man who can play along dion and hide his flaws. Dion is a key player to this team, he's not being used properly because we don't have a d man who can log big minutes in a shut down role. Get dion some support, let him hit,pinch and shoot and he's a very effective player.
Aside from a shut down d man I think we need to make a run at Clarkson. We need a "goon" who can play hockey and potentially be a game breaker(lucic). Add these two pieces and re-sign bozak while continuing to develop from within and we'll be a threat in the very near future.

I agree with you on bozak. But getting a guy who isn't much better and and cost more doesn't help us.


The debate started with the Berger trade idea: kulemin + gunner for stastny and the dumping grabo for nothing.


IMO adding stastny and subtracting those 3 makes us weaker.
