Ok, I know it was a devastating loss and all that and there likely was some Fording going on to ease the pain, but:
- Grabovski is not getting bought out. He had a rough year, he'll bounce back. He's making too much, but if you shaved that cap hit down to $4.5M, is that extra 1M going to make a difference anywhere? Likely not. He'll be a 50 point player next year and we'll forget all about the buy out. A trade is also more likely in a year if he puts up career average points as cap will go up and contract will look better and Kadri has another year to improve.
- They will make every attempt to resign Bozak to a very reasonable contract because there just isn't a lot of options out there. Kessel wants to play with Bozak; it'll make it easier to resign Kessel next year if Bozak's there.
- They are not buying out Phaneuf. He's our best defenseman. He needs a better number 2.
- We need a veteran 1B/backup for Reimer (Ray Emery, unlikely; Mike Smith)
- We are not getting Stastny. - gravyface
Obvious.

haha, sooo good!!
also to the person saying that phaneuf, who is the second coming of patrice breezeby, is the leafs best def, a big lol to you. to say phaneuf will be better with a better 2nd d is silly. phaneuf sucks, plain and simple. get rid of him and you eliminate half the issues the leafs have.
brisebois had his moments, he gave the puck up so many times and got beat of the outside so many times, but all was forgivable because he played with heart and had a great attitude. I think if you asked neon dion to spell attitude, hed probably burst a blood vessel. |

Corsi is a horrendous stat. Terribly flawed. There is a reason it's not universally accepted.
Stastny is 3rd best at what he does??? Seriously??? For real??? Is this a joke?? Where's the camera??
Bozak and Grabo aren't that far behind Stastny. Grabo has like 3 pts less than stastny the last 3 yrs, and played 4min/game less last year). - burn
I can't agree with this Burn. Bozie and Grabo, with all the planets aligned, have shown that they are 50-55 pt guys.
Stastny was a point per game guy for four years. Duchene and RoR show up in 2010 and he takes a step back offensively to be a 50 pt guy.
He's not the big physical offensive centre we'd all love but he's a few steps better than both Bozak and Grabo.
His situation reminds me of JStaal a bit - he's a year away from UFA and might like to be traded to a better situation. He'll get a much better contract if he can show he's still a ppg player this year. |

Played with heart? Are you joking? #43 (and 71) was one the biggest wussies I have seen play professional hockey in my 44 years of watching it. His attitude was great? Like flying off to Paris and breaking an ankle? He was the master at shooting pucks into shin pads and having the play go right past him the other way. He never saw a corner he couldn't avoid, and he didn't have the strength to move my 4 year old daughter out of the crease (he tried, believe me). He racked up a bunch of points on the PP, no doubt, and that is the only area he excelled at - passing. He made a good first pass out of his zone, and could set a guy up for a one timer nicely as well. That's it. Nothing more of value to him. |

Stastny ppg for 4 years? He's played 7 years and had 1 ppg year, 2 close to a ppg and the last 3 years in decline not even close to ppg.
Stastny has basically been as productive as grabo the last 2-3 years.
