Have no interest in keeping Vanek. - theblueandgold
He has no interest in the sabres as well. Homer said he turned down an 8 yr deal for stupid money. |

hopefully they don't pay him like he is ready.. if he actually said that it was a stupid comment. - SabresFaninIndiana
Just said it in an interview with Brian Duff on Hockey Hotline. Side note, I think Duff should do this show regularly. He is 100x's better than Sylvester. |

Thats what Darcy said. He will compete. IMO, that would mean Hackett is with the big club next year. |

If memory serves me, Hackett would have to clear to remain in Rochester. |

More it more it points to Miller being moved. I would be willing to put a guarantee on it at this point. |

Nope, Hackett is not waiver eligible, has not completed requirements. They've discussed this on hfboards |

He does have one year left.
For some reason I thought he was already 24 in which case waivers would then apply. |

Enroth to arb. and signs
Hackett pulled up
Makarov is in Rochester with Knapp
Leggio is a UFA
Miller is traded for god knows what and same with Vanek by draft
sound good?
Also maybe they buy out Leino and trade Stafford and get to the floor some other way |

All depends on what Miller and vanek are traded for.
I think between Enroth and Hackett we can get a decent enough goalie, it is not like are going to win it all next year anyway.
Stafford I don't think I could care much less about, he is so useless I don't think we will get anything in a trade for. hell just hold on to him see if he turns it around long enough to make him a deadline deal that gets you a 2nd. |

Going to be hard to move Vanek and Miller with 1 year left on there contracts and the cap coming down, most cup challenging teams are at the cap. But then again most GM's in this league find ways to get it done, all but our GM. |

i wouldnt be surprised if darcy was close to moving miller at the deadline but it turned into a "call us back after the season"
he seems pretty confident that he can make the moves, considering how hes talking about miller and enroth |

I have a feeling we will not be getting as good of a trade for miller as we did for JPom. And Vanek might be back on the team next season at least till the deadline |

I think in at least on of those two trades we would have to take salary back, not just for the other team but to keep us above the floor too.
And yea if a guy like Holland wants Vanek he'll find a way to make it work, our guy would probably screw it up |

We have the ability to retain a max of 50% of each of their contracts. We can only retain salary on 3 contracts, and it cannot exceed 15% of upper limit (64.3M = 9.645M) This new ability helps us reach the cap floor and also gives more value to those players.
A team could add Miller for $3.125M or Vanek for $3.57M for a year before they hit UFA.
With 50% of Miller and Vanek, plus the .795M we are retaining on Pominville, that would put us at 7.49M in salary retained. It opens up room to resign Enroth, Hodgson, Weber, Tropp, Flynn and Hackett for about the same money it took to sign Miller and Vanek. |

I'm not talking about it like it's some big deal. I'm just saying there is a floor that we have to maintain and there is a cap that other teams have to maintain. Consider how close to the cap a contender might be and how close to the floor we are, it makes perfect sense for us to some salary back. |

how would you create the roster for next season, if vanek and miller are gone?
serious question, and assume no big additions |
