Carter was the whole reason they won the cup had zero to do with jonathan quick playing out of his mind

So again go back through everythign I said, and find out where I said those words. I said the two players Philly traded away now have cups they won together, but were not good enough to do so in Philly.

Long live Carter! The cup Champion!

To be fair Carter led the team in goals during the cup finals. They might not win it without him. Like I said the only team that lost out was Colombus

It is a fair point. They are critical pieces to that LA team. They are part of the new leadership group that helped LA get the cup, and are currently fighting for a second.

How can the trade work better for Philly when what the have is so unproven at this point. They missed the playoffs with all that "Superior" talent that they got for Richards and Carter.

so if vanek goes to, say, new jersey and buffalo gets back whoever their best prospect is, a roster player, and a first round pick

new jersey wins the cup next year

you say buffalo SERIOUSLY lost the trade because vanek won the cup?

right, but thats still something a GM needs to ensure wont happen before he goes all in on a player.

His NTC didn't kick in yet. Play where you're traded and shut your mouth.

Because the poster never said anything about LA Kings winning a cup what he said was The FLyers gave Richards and Carter away for nothing....

I guess you agree, the flyers got nothing in return.....hockeybuzz

- toddkac

He didn't mean they gave him away for nothing. I think what he meant was that if they were willing to give up Carter and Richards they could be willing to give up hartnell (in response to me saying they wouldn't give him up because he's a fan favourite).

I completely agree with you. Guys here think they would rather have Jeff Carter and his 12 year 50 million dollar contract then Courturier, Voracek and a 3rd.
The fact that LA Kings won the cup has nothing to do with the ACTUAL VALUE of the trade
I don't know, they gave Richards and Carter away like a bunch of fools.

At this point in time Philly lost that trade, because again Carter and Richards were very key parts in winning that cup.

I know, i agree with you, its childish and stupid. Making guaranteed millions playing hockey and finding a way to complain, but its something they should have seen coming and avoided all together.

Like if buffalo traded for emerson etem.

That contract is actually a very good one compared to what the current NHL salary inflation is. . .

So what your saying is if a player gets passed around by a few teams and then a team wins the cup with that player all the teams that traded him away previously lost that trade??? Really? Seriously?

"losing a trade" would mean they are worse off than they were before the trade happened. its irrelevant to the success the players had after they were gone.

The only team Vanek should win a cup with is Buffalo. Becasue if he gets traded, he will be nowhere near the player he was when he was here. Sabres suck every last ounce of talent out of the players they trade. True Story.

Like I said before I believe he meant that as in they were willing to part ways with two key players without hesitation so it's entirely possible that they'd be willing to deal hartnell too (again in response to me saying that I don't think they'd deal hartnell because he's a fan favourite).

UGH. No, this is a special situation where two leaders of the SAME TEAM, were decided on by the MGMT group they were not good enough to win a cup. Within a year the very two same players wound up on the same team, playing very important roles and helped a team win a cup and are currently looking to go back to back. While the team that traded them away appears to be in worse shape.

He had 8 goals. Including game winners. Can't say for sure they won without him.
