MM was only GM of the Islanders for 5 seasons under Wang, where his team made the playoffs 3 of those 5 years. While under Wang's ownership MM's teams showed progress. It is not a stretch to say that Wang did the right thing keeping him as long as he did & that he got rid of him at the right time as well.

I believe it was 6 years? He was GM I think 5 years prior to Wang purchasing the team. IDK if you picked up on the lick of sarcassam that the sentence was written in? Mike Milbury will go down in NHL history as one of the worst if not worst GM's in the history of the sport. It is a stretch to say that Wang did the right thing, in fact it's a big stretch.

He has to sign some decent players. We are once again under the cap, especially if we let Streit walk.

If he does nothing once again, then winning is not a necessity to Wang. And he needs to sell to the Brooklyn guys. The excuses are over. I am sure plenty of UFAs would love to play for this up and coming team.

We should all do this come playoff time, it seems to piss opposing fans off for whatever reason?

5 years, 1 year was a lock out.

one of the worst GMs yha... but he isnt even the worst GM for this franchise... so he's not the worst in all of sports.

He will spend what he needs to get to the floor, but I wouldn't expect too much more then that, he's not going to significantly add to the payroll till we are in Brooklyn.

I never thought winning was a huge concern of Wang's to begin with. Never really got that impression from him except the first year he brought the team. I would'nt expect much as far as signings or trades, just my opinion. Snow saying don't expect much helped me come to that opinion btw. I believe him. This years FA crop is pretty thin. I'm expecting him to see what these kids have coming up. Maybe he's hoping one of them to slide onto JT's wing, jettisone Boyes. If Streit walks(which I see happening)maybe you'll see him sign another Dman unless he's hoping Donovan can step in? As far as UFA's wanting to play here our recent success definitely helped that cause a bit.

Without question, he did more to destroy this team in 3 years then MM could do in 100

He was pretty terrible himself. He single handedly dismanteled a great team, yeah we got swept but there were some good young players on that team that were playing well together, growing. Pierre Turgeon

See, I don't know why anyone thinks this. I hear this about various owners all the time but just don't get why anyone would think an owner wouldn't want success. In Wang's case, he went all in after his first season and dumped money on guys like Hamerlik, Yashin, Peca, Osgood etc. If anything, the team became overzealous by dumping off promising prospects in order to 'win now'.
He learned a tough lesson from that period which was to allow things to grow organically rather than trying to create a quick fix. He's incurred millions and millions in losses and yet has helped the franchise weather the storm. I'm not saying the guy is a saint, he certainly isn't. I'm also not saying there aren't alterior motives, but I do think he was genuine in wanting to create a legacy on Long Islander that would eventually see him as the savior of the franchise. Winning has to be part of that for his 'legacy' to become a full reality.

We were all considered a buch of drunking, classless hooligans during the playoffs we might as well live up to that. Not saying that X fits this description but it is funny how him signing his name at the bottom infuriates people
