I think they did go above expectations last season. But that is only one year in four. If they lose this series is season considered a success to you? Ot trying to be jerky just wondering, my expectations with a HOF goalie in his prune is to be cup contender every year.
- Chris Erwin

It won't be a success I never said it would be. But the topic is the coach and do I think he deserves to be canned if they lose this series? Not for a millisecond do I think that

Deny all you want, but the bottom line is this coach got the team further then any coach did since '97.

They sort of are. But will be happy but ifnthey get pounded in ECF by Ottawa like they did last year against Devils I will not be happy, not going to say Pittsburg because they gave all world talent. But on paper no way should the Devils have handled us so easily last season.

They are all teams are are this point. Only real impact player missing is Staal though. Clowe played how many games and outside first game wasn't impact player.

Not on the scoring sheet, but he does provide a solid player who will bang and can score on occasion.

“I think he’s too quick,” Tortorella said of Hagelin, who was on for two power play goals during the regular-season in which he a total of 49:37 of ice on the unit. “I think he’s a jitterbug, and he screws it up.

Hags should have used a Torts type response when asked about this and said "Torts should just shut his mouth", for a coach who doesn't want to ever be be asked about singling out a player he sure had no problem doing so and regarding an aspect of their game where almost everyone sucks, forget moving around, that's not important.

- cranford93

I think Torts knows his players' psyches better than we do and he seems to believe Hags will take the comments in stride. I guarantee that what Torts said was not something he hasn't already told Hags before. He has done his best not to be critical of Nash and Richards and I think that is because he knows their confidence is fragile and they wouldn't respond well to it. Torts knows what he is doing.

Any more Bruins players injured by any chance?

We aren't allowed to discuss Bruins injuries here, Jimbro doesn't like it.

I don't find it a Torts bash at all. I find it a critique on a system that needs to be adjusted a little to suit the personnel. The key part of that personnel is hank. Here's the bash ( sort of ) Torts needs to adjust the system.....next season. Now is not the time. Continue with what they're doing and we'll see how far it gets them.

I've seen a lot of articles about this but not to many praising the way they play right now. But, no time to change now, next season will be telling.

Let's Go Rangers!!!!!!!

- DONMURDOCH14

And that is the key phrase. I agree with what Weekes said for the most part. It really is nothing new. I'm actually sure Torts tells his players to take a chance and open it up to make a play as long as they are covered. For example; I'd bet his D have the green light to jump into the play to create an offensive chance so long as a F is in position to cover his spot or that the opposing team's players are all in deep enough that a turnover won't result in an odd-man against because of the pinch.

I know I've been in the middle of this Tort debate. I guess it's another type of "Tort Reform". Fact is, we don't know what style he brings to the team next season. This post is a call to Rangers fans to stop bickering(including myself) and support these guys today. After we win the talk will be how home ice is now ours and how we will have a great chance to find ourselves in the same exact position as last season. Lets go!!!!

Tortarella really said that about Hagelin?

Wow. What a (frank)ing bumhole. A coach should not say something like that to the press. No reason is good enough, certainly not motivation.

If Hagelin has a good game today I hope he gives no credit to his "coach" and tells him to suck his Richard.

2 points Via Rangers pre-game radio show:

1) Adam Graves: "The Rangers played too much in game 1 in being afraid to make mistakes".

I agree with him. Our shots on goal total of 38 seemed planets away from the quality of the 45 shots that Hank had faced. But, it is sad to say that Hank wasn't spectacularly perfect that night (like Rask), in giving up 2 goals in regulation that he would normally stop; meaning we can never win unless he plays to super perfection.

2) Barry Melrose said: "The key is Hank playing perfect, since he is their best player and MVP. I can't say Nash or Richards anymore, because they have yet to show me anything. Hank must win in a low scoring game. The Rangers must use an aggressive forecheck on the Bruins rookie defensemen, and when on the powerplay must get shots from the point with traffic in front." (Good accurate analysis by him.)

Enough said. I am tired of saying it again here myself, as I am about Torts criticizing a particular player (yesterday Hagelin) for stinking on the powerplay (for whatever reason he does this tactic); when his boy Sully and him are suppose to teach it properly; even if they would just tell the players 10 words only, "keep it basic with more shots to a crowded net". Those words would be even shorter than his post game conferences after losses.

And he has coached Kreider a first round player into fourth line/ahl player.
- Chris Erwin

Which was the missing offense that we have lacked in games all season long to possibly have Hank short of winning another Vezina; although I feel that overall wins should have less to do with winning it vs. GAA and Saves %.
