Ok kids. Cut the pissing match.

"You don't know jack"

"I guess you don't watch enough..."

Personal attacks and the kind of stuff you guys have NEVER had on this forum which has, in the past, made this the best place to really talk hockey on the web.

Stop it or find yourself on the outs. And don't bring up freedom of speech. You each clicked a checkbox agreeing to the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct when you joined. There was a reason for that. The reason was so that you can and will be held accountable for your behavior on this privately owned and managed site. If you don't like the rules, find somewhere else to make the joy of hockey an unpleasant slog.

So when Torts doesn't speak, he is an idiot, and when he does speak, he is an idiot.

It's funny how none of the tort bashers focus on the system now that they have the hagelin comments to spew about.

So typical of haters being haters

I do ahte Torterella sometimes and think we'd be better off with a different coach, not that I would fire him (if that makes any sense). But never once was it due to his comments or handling of the media. Anyone who cares about that is ridiculous. His job is to worry about how the team performs and thats all I care about in terms of evaluating his job performance.

And with average goaltending Rangers aren't in playoffs.

why are people always saying "take Lundqvist away from the Rangers and they suck"

why are we taking him away anyway?

is anyone taking Tavares away from the Islanders?

They better not

The Kings squeaked in the playoffs last season, teams sneak in and do well in the playoffs all of the time. The Bruins squeaked into this round with the king mother of all miracles in Game 7 last Monday night, but thats ok? Other than Pittsburgh, show me an NHL team that didn't get good goaltending to get in? Even Nabokov had to be real good down the stretch of the season to get the Isles in. Its almost like we should be shamed that our best player is our goaltender or we should apologize for it. These guys set it up so they blame the coaching when they lose and when they win all credit goes to Hank. There is never anything in between which is where the truth always sits...its just not fair.
- Blueshirts4ever

Who cares, the guy(Lundvquist) is a part of your team and saying he is the reason why you win is like saying you have a good team. Now with that said if he had some offensive help and people like Richards actually played to their ability you would have a whole different team, IMO a better one but I'm guessing you don't need me to tell you that?

Or if they could score on the PP just 10% of the time and not not 5% of the time we'd be 1-1 here....grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Andrew Gross @AGrossRecord

Good statistical news for #NYR: home teams are 40-18 (.690) in 2013 playoffs, including 10-1 in second round. Rangers are 3-0 so far at #MSG

So much for the idea that in hockey there is no home ice advantage...not this year

So, I walk into the house last night after kid's soccer games, and my wife is watching the Red Wings-Hawks game. She says to me, this is awesome to watch -- why don't the Rangers games look like this? I went into the whole the Red Wings barely made the playoffs stuff, but she did make me wonder whether the problems that people have with the John Tortorella coached Rangers is one of the aesthetics. If you are looking for a pretty hockey game, John Tortorella is not your man. And, maybe as I get older, I do put a little more value in the entertainment aspect of the game. So, I think the problem may be with me, in that every once in awhile, at least, I want to see wide open balls to the wall hockey.

But as a fan of the team if you guys were dominating it would'nt even be a topic. I completely understand what you're saying even though our series with the Pens was at times awesome hockey(incredible a couple games) I watched one of the games btn the Kings and Blues and it was some of the most entertaining hockey I've seen in years. Hitting, passing, goaltending was just incredible. With that said when you're a fan, your team can be as boring as hell but if you win in the end that's all that matters.

The Rangers play a rigid system that doesn't allow a lot of free flowing skating and creativity. It's a straight line attack that isn't as aggressive as I would like to see but there is a reason why I am not a coach and just a follower of the sport.

If the Rangers went to the net more, the attack woul probably work better than it has. I am okay with north-south type hockey, as long as they do the little things right. In a system like this, the little things go a long way.

It also helps the Wings attack having two studs like Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Wings always played a puck possession, east-west type of style.

Bu then you hear Derek Brassard talk about how coming here and playing for Torts has allowed him to open up offensively...I think the overall talent level on both the Wings and the hawks is higher as well. Zetterberg, Dasyuk, Kane, Toews, Hossa. Is Hagelin a top 6 forward on those team? Maybe he is maybe he isn't, Stepan is our #1, he certainly isn't on either one of those teams for sure. So, I get your point but I am not sure the Rangers are as skilled up and down the lineup as some think. Maybe they are as skilled as some think and really need time to establish more of a skating game, like the game Torts coached in Tampa. We won't know that until September.

Losing this series is a huge black eye for the Hawks. I still think they will take it but I knew Detroit would be a tough out. They beat a good Ducks team and got some contributions from some of their secondary players; while also getting production from their big guns.

Plus Howard is a pretty good goalie.

I would argue the Rangers having less talent than Detroit. No argument when comparing the Hawks but Detroit is not loaded like they used to be. A lot of youngsters in that lineup and aging vets. Plus that blue line, on paper, is pretty shaky.

Their money guys are better than anything the Rangers have though. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are hall of famers.

I also think the Rangers are more talented than Detroit, particularly on the backline.

Somebody made the comparison a couple of weeks ago between Torts and Keenan, making the point that maybe you need to be a bit of hardass to succeed as a hockey coach in New York, with all of the distractions that present themselves to your players. I agree with the comparison from a personality perspective, but actually think stylistically, Torts reminds me a whole hell of alot more of Roger Neilsen. And, I think Roger Neilsen was, for the most part, a great coach for the Rangers, who but for a couple of bad bounces, may have won a Cup there.

Keenan was more of a hard ass...remember it Mess to tell him to back off and let them pay after Game 5 vs NJ...
