With even average goaltending we probably would've won that series. - Cptmjl

I usually only put the Messier pic up when we face elimination, but, I think times call for desperation already. - jimbro83
Agreed... I feel like it is. It's gonna be weird if we lose and I have to remind myself there is a game Thursday |

why are people always saying "take Lundqvist away from the Rangers and they suck"
why are we taking him away anyway?
is anyone taking Tavares away from the Islanders?

I just have a hard time believing this team that has been resilient all season long will just fold it up. I just can't see it happening. I'm not saying they will win both games, I think they win tonight with the season really on the line Thursday. |

in the playoffs, Patrice Bergeron is 115-66 on faceoffs. .635 winning percentage.
That is sick

The Kings squeaked in the playoffs last season, teams sneak in and do well in the playoffs all of the time. The Bruins squeaked into this round with the king mother of all miracles in Game 7 last Monday night, but thats ok? Other than Pittsburgh, show me an NHL team that didn't get good goaltending to get in? Even Nabokov had to be real good down the stretch of the season to get the Isles in. Its almost like we should be shamed that our best player is our goaltender or we should apologize for it. These guys set it up so they blame the coaching when they lose and when they win all credit goes to Hank. There is never anything in between which is where the truth always sits...its just not fair. |

I never got that. It's more of an anti-NY or anti-Ranger thing anyway than it is anything else.
But the same people who say things like the Rangers would be nothing without Lundqvist also refer to him as the "Queen" as well. It's Ranger hatred more than anything else.
We drafted and developed the best goalie in the world. We didn't go out and buy him, trade for him or pick him up on waivers, which is the new fad these days. |

In this particular case on this thread its coming from Rangers fans, or so they say they are Rangers fans. |

definitely, and they put him in and take John Druce, I mean Torey Krug out. That would rule. |

If Redden plays Krug isn't coming out, if Seidenberg and Redden come back, Krug still isn't coming out. Bartkowski and Hamilton will come out. |

This was my point as well as other posters regarding the Hagelin comment. - Blueshirts4ever
I think the motive here was so obvious it's not even funny.
If you are working in an office and your boss comes up to you and says you know what, you really suck at Excel, it's going to piss you off and you are probably going to say to yourself I'll show him, I am going to become Bill Gates at Excel
this is classic Herb Brooks type motivational coaching technique |

Tortorella uses the media for 2 reasons. To make it about him and not the players and to motivate players. He is always asked about his players and his most common answer is "I am not going to critique my players to you guys". All of a sudden, he is asked about Hagelin and he just out of the blue critiques a player? Come on, people, wake up. The second part to all of this is that Tortorella isn't wrong. The third part to all of this and the part that many posters leave out is that in that same sequence, Tortorella professed his love for Hagelin and loves him as a player which clearly he does. That gets left out. |

I think he should come to the next press conference with a list:
Rick Nash, he stinks on the PP.
Brad Richards, stinks on the PP.
Ryan Callahan, terrible a man up.
Michael Del Zotto, a disaster on the point on the PP.
Derek Stepan, he stinks to, on the PP.
The whole team stinks on the PP, every single one of these guys, Nash, Del Zotto, Stepan, MZA, all of them, they all stink! Stink, stink, stink!!! |

I'm with you on that front. I actually think Tortorella has a more advanced hockey education than MOST of us on this thread. I include myself as not being as smart as Torts when it comes to hockey, just sayin... |

It's funny how none of the tort bashers focus on the system now that they have the hagelin comments to spew about.
So typical of haters being haters |

Its also funny how when they won 5-0 it was Tortorella finally making the adjustments and coached the right way. Nevermind that they executed flawlessly and the other team folded. I would imagine Boston has nothing to do with being up 2-0 too right? A team just 2 years removed from winning a cup and is better than the Caps....sheesh |
