nothing a coach says to the media matters, you are overreacting to this because you hate Torts. - jimbro83
I guess you didn't read, and listen through various broadcast means as to what probably 99% of the NHL media members had said over the weekend through today (so far) as if it were proper or not for Torts to only blame Hagelin, and not anyone else that plays ever on our horrible powerplay.
I must have missed something on all the Rangers powerplays, in not being aware that Hagelin is the only Ranger skater on the ice when we have a powerplay, making us in reality look like we are playing shorthanded while on it.
Well, that just happens to be the way our powerplay has mostly looked like for the last 4 years. Now that for sure would be the coaching staff's fault only! |

I agree that I may have over projected him by about 10 goals per season here. But under a suitable NHL team's offensive & hard tempo forechecking style for him, like the Penguins, Islanders, etc.; he can develop into a 30+ goal scorer because of his speed, if he improves his skills, hands, and accuracy of his shot, especially when coming down hard on the wing. Look no further than Dupuis & Parenteau as for two former Rangers that we gave up on too early, who both became legitimate 30+ goal scorers elsewhere playing under more of an offensive plan . - RangerSaver
Yea he may score 25 goals playing in that system but like most of the players on the isles he would also be a minus 10 |

Saver loves weight so thus the reason he used parenteau. And he used dupuis because...I guess we have a Crosby like player on our team |

I think it's obvious that Torts believes saying that publically will make Hagelin want to prove him wrong, it's a way to motivate him, illustrated perfectly by the fact Hagelin was out on the powerplay yesterday. - jimbro83
Playing mind games with the players you coach to provide motivation is a myth. It will only disrupt them, leaving them playing afraid to make mistakes. Adam Graves even said on yesterday's radio pre-game show that the Rangers were playing fearful of making mistakes much of the time in that first game's loss in OT, as I had posted shortly after our usual slow relaxed start Sunday.

I like Doug weight too think he will be a good coach but Torts isn't going anywhere and even if weight came here he would still need to stress defense first because that is and will be the strength of this team |

Saver is convinced we'd win like 8 cups in row with weight as HC, Maloney as assistant, weekes as goalie coach and parenteau as captain |

But the Isles still took a bigger offensive powerhouse in Pit. to 6 games while having a player like this, and playing their "go for it" game style also. But they don't have the best goalie in the world, Hank; as well as some of the best defensive defensemen in McDonagh, Staal, and Girardi (minus yesterday's performance). Plus their goalie, Nabokov, after a promising regular season, had a 4.44 GAA, but also an even worse, an .844% Save Percentage in that series loss. |

It's more obvious than not that Torts isn't going to be fired, wether he is or not is up or debate at the end of the season but if he is her he must be forced to hire another assistant and get the PP working |

Please don't take my posts out of context here. You even liked Doug Weight, (if available since he had stated he wanted to be a HC someday), when I first mentioned him on this site to you after the game 2 loss in Washington, I believe, when you had suggested Larry Robinson at that time. The 2 other retired players above that I mentioned earlier are well known and as experienced in their knowledge of the game to use as references. Plus, you would have liked to have kept Parenteu for his game, including the shootouts in the regular season.

Remember when it seemed that he was the main whipping boy of Tom Renney when he coached here, who would scratch him often from games to our shock back then? I think that started after he took a bad penalty in the offensive zone in the last few minutes of the 3rd period of a tied road game against the Islanders...
You guessed it! The Islanders then scored on that powerplay to defeat us that night. |

I remember huddling in the windowless halls of the cinderblock grade school for tornado drills. The "safest" place isn't safe. No storm cellars in schools, of course. Also remember having to know which was the SW corner of each friend's basement, because that's where you were to go if the tornado siren sounded. - bodiva88
We had radiation fallout shelters in our schools back in the late 60's and 70's. never knew what that meant but we would have drills and jam into those shelters. Wasn't until years later that I knew what could have really happened. |

I agree and felt the same way during the Caps series. Whether Nash sticks up for himself or Dorsett or Ash does it IDC. Point is you stick up for your teammates, goaltender. Tired of extra whacks at hanks hands and liberties taken on skill players. Need to send that message. If anyone so much as looked at Mess the wrong way Adam Graves was right there to take care of it. Loved that part of that 94 team. - DONMURDOCH14

How many Chris Chelios's have there ever been in the NHL! He lasted longer because of his youthful type abilities for his age, and his All Star career type records he had as a defenseman, who there are many less of as opposed to forwards. - RangerSaver

Pascal Dupuis is 34 years old now, we had him for 6 games six years ago, he is having a career season, yet, never scored 30 goals in this league.
Pa Parenteau has never played a playoff game, is 30 years old, has a 4 million a year contract and has actually never scored more than 20 goals in a season.
I think only someone who is retarded would refer to either one of these guys as "legitimate 30 PLUS goal scorers" but then, look at who I am talking to here.

That's a funny one. All of us can't be lucky enough to have players like Brad Richards on our team. You have to score to win a game, something your goalie has come to realize over the last few years. |

With even average goaltending we probably would've won that series. |
