Philly won't be trading him for Edler. They wouldn't trade for Edler at all. They need to shed salary. Not pick up more. - Dirte
They also need a top pairing offensive D, and could very likely buy out Briere... |

Schneider. Assuming we keep Lu of course. I'm not really buying the "trade both goalies" rumours. - AlexF
I haven't even heard any of the rumours about trading both goalies, except from Vantel...although he does have a better record than Ek...
Lou will never start another game for the Canucks. I'll put money on that, as well. |

Jason Botchford @botchford
Vancouver was complaining about the officiating before it was cool
- AlexF
One of the most legit things I've ever heard from Botchford.
On a similar note, are the Kings, their fans, and Quick himself getting as much heat as the the Canucks, their fans, and any Canuck player for making similar comments about the reffing? |

that still wouldn't get them enough room to make that trade. |

But why would they do that, to trade for Edler, and get rid of a top young player?
You guys are dreaming. They're not gonna solve your cap issues for you.

Bob Mackenzie and Elliot Friedman
Lu does not want to be here and what if the Canucks could pick up a second or third overall with Schneider plus? I just heard them both saying they heard rumblings |

Yeah, them taking Edler is doing the Canucks a favour.
How in the world are they going to get rid of a big 26 year old D who has a .60 point/game average over the last 4 years, hits like a train, and is the team's best shot blocker... ? What a predicament...
Seriously, have you watched Edler? Are you under some strange impression that he's not a good player? He's young, talented, and signed to a good long term contract...
The Canucks have minor cap issues. Luongo is gone on waivers, Booth and Ballard are bought out—problem solved.
It's not like they want to get rid of Edler—the need for a top 6 forward is greater.
EDIT: or maybe you're just trolling, because I can't think of any other reason why you would think Philly acquiring Edler would be doing the Canucks a favour... |

Don't buy it for a second. That is honestly the most absurd rumour I've heard in a long time. |

Bieksa - Kesler - Edler - Schneider/Luongo
I would not be surprised if two of these core players are moved this summer. Lu being the obvious no-brainer, but I expect one other. We're also losing I think eight guys to UFA status who in all likely hood (is that one word) won't be re-signed. That's a massive change to the team! Although it may not appear that way, it will be.

Still don't think AV is going, maybe the rest of the coaching staff, but something tells me that AV is going to stay, maybe with a rejigged lineup and an extremely short leash. |

Calling a line 1 or 2 is just a name .I think we all agree we need two top scoring lines a shut down line and a tough 4 th line. - VANTEL
This, just because you'd have another strong line other than the Sedins, doesn't mean that the Sedins still won't face all the tough d-men and shutdown lines. Just means that the other team will have to pick their poison or have two defensive lines to be able to keep both line sin check(which very few teams have).
I also don't believe that the third line has to mainly a shutdown line and the 4th line has to be big guys with limited skill. Just give me solid two-way players in the bottom 6 that can contribute even when not scoring or fighting(that actually have some skill and skating ans goalscoring ability). Basically a bottom 6 like Boston had against us in the SCF would be ideal. |

Maybe my idea of a "top line player" is different.
IMO, the Canucks only have two "top line players." Burrows becomes one by association, but isn't without the Sedins.
The Canucks need one or two more top6 players. They have 4 right now.
I agree, D is definitely a sellers market; however, the only position that is more of a sellers market is top line C.
I don't think any expendable asset the Canucks currently have could acquire a proven 1C. Maybe a younger guy with that type of ceiling, like Schenn. - Fosco
Agreed. |

So keep Kesler and the Sedins. 30 teams would instantly be better. #1 centers are hard to come by. - thundachunk

This is true but as Scooby said a while back Burrows is an excellent player at 2 Mil not as good at 4.5 .If you are going to move him it has to be done before July 1 st before NTC - VANTEL
Yeah, the Burrows and Higgins extensions scare me a bit, about 500K higher than I'd go for each of them if they wanted long term and NTC's.
This thing that scares me about Burrows is that I'm not convinced that he's a 4.5 million dollar player without the Sedins. |

I have Schenn and Couturier both pretty close, Simmonds would definitely be behind them for me. |

Detroit is the team we were supposed to be modeled after. Personally I think they play an attractive game (so does CHI btw) and wouldn't mind them advancing as far as possible. However highly unlikely, DET-PIT Round 3 would be an exciting final to watch. - AlexF
Agreed. I'm rooting for the more skilled teams to win, I hate Chicago but they just might be the most exciting team to watch. Detroit isn't as skilled before but I still like their game much better than teams like the Blues. Kings aren't too exciting either, but I can't blame the Blues and Kings for playing those styles when I see their rosters and with the way the officiating changes in the playoffs. Chicago's top guns are being slowed down now thanks to playoff rules. If Chicago goes down to Detroit and LA goes to the SCF, I actually think that Gillis will continue to try and acquire size/grit, and I guess I can't really blame him. |

What upsets me is that the teams that are flourishing in the playoffs are not the result of an organic change (ie players are bigger, stronger, etc) so much as it's a man made change (ie the rules change or cease to be enforced). Unfortunately the change is for the worse not the better. |
