Seravalli makes a huge leap in the article. And so do you. Snider didn't contradict the previous article. He simply wanted the goaltender situation addressed. The comments made by Snider doesn't suggest that he specifically told Holmgren to get Bryzgalov.

i don't find the leap so huge.

I read it. Maybe you should read it again. None of the quotes come close to Snider saying he told Holmgren to sign Bryzgalov specifically. All it says is he had a part in making it happen. And that it had to be done. I believe that Snider gave Holmgren direction to fix the Goalie issue. To identify the best option available and target that player. I do not believe that it was Snider that chose Bryzgalov. That was Holmgren and his staff.

I read it similarly - once Homer id'd his goaltender, Mr. Snyder was in full support.

Mr. Snyder may be many things, but I don't believe he's the type of person who would point his finger, regarding what he perceived as a questionable decision, at his GM when he knew it was his decision in the first place.

Only problem with that is Holmgren had limited choices on the market. Snider demanding to add a goaltender forced his hand to add the best guy "at the time". The organization could of been patient and stayed the course with Bobrovsky or wait a year or two and trade for another (ex: Bishop, Bernier, etc.).

Nevertheless, cant go back to the past, what's done is done.

You're right. There weren't a lot of choices. And they could have chosen to give Bobrovsky a shot. But they didn't. And Snider certainly had a hand in going in the direction they went in.

Amazing that Snider was so upset after the 2010 loss in the Final that he was cool with Holmgren bringing back the SAME EXACT (frank)ING GOALIES THE NEXT (frank)ING YEAR!!!

I wanted the Flyers to go after Bryzgalov (he was my first choice) but not at that length of that contract. 9 years is just to long of a contract for a player that you don't know enough about. When saying that its not like he was part of this organization (like if the Flyers had given that to Giroux for example it would make more sense).

Snider basically told the GM he needs to find a goalie. Snider might not of picked that goalie but he limited Holmgren in getting one right away.

In Miller's article, Snider mentioned the 2010 playoffs. But that summer they re-signed Leighton and planned to have him and Boucher return. It wasn't until after Laviolette's horrific handling of the goalies in 2011 that Snider made his declaration

Halifax goalie has played in 147 out of 170 games in the last 2 years. Not counting tonight.

The fact that Leighton got the call in a playoff game after playing one game all year is still mind boggling to this day.

I can understand wanted to get a goalie but you cant force it. Going public about it didn't help the situation.

The anthem singer for the Memorial Cup botched the Star Spangled banner very badly. She forgot words, used the wrongs words, & then stopped singing it.....the crowd took over for her.

I was in the minority at the time, but I lobbied for Homer to sign Vokoun for a couple of years and bring Bobo along at a more manageable pace. He reminded me somewhat of Pelle Lindbergh - athletic, quick, and a competitor.

I didn't like the Breeze signing. I didn't like what I read about him. I didn't see him as a good fit. And I knew it would've been the end of Bobo's tenure here.

I was dog tired of the Flyers chasing their tail regarding the goaltending position. I liked what I saw in Bobo and though the kid had a chance with the proper handling. But as always, the future was now with the Flyers and my opinion (as it usually should) was again ignored.

I don't have a problem with trying to upgrade but once the length of the contract was announced I was not a fan of it. Too much risk in a long term deal for a player that's not elite.

If you fire a gm based on one weakness then you'll never find a gm you're happy with.

I was the opposite. I wanted the Flyers to go out and get an established starting goaltender. And did not fully trust Bobrovsky to become that #1. And I'm still not entirely convinced Bobrovksy could've been that player.

I totally agree with you. I am only disappointed in the length of Bryzgalov's contract. Had he signed for four years the Flyers could of developed Bobrovsky over time.

I'm a fan of Homer, but if you think the man (or the teams he's assembled) have only had one weakness, I've got news for ya'.
